Receptions at the Riu Palace

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about having the reception at the Mexican Restaurant. I know that you can rent out the Terrace from 8-11 for an extra $500. When you do this what all is included? If I am spending an extra $500 I would hope dancing and a DJ were included but I am not sure. Can someone help me?

Thanks saltocoach! I feel torn between the Mexican restaurant and the Steakhouse. I have heard the steakhouse really isn't that good. I have heard that if you do have the reception at the steakhouse you can have the actual reception on the beach. Have you heard anything like this?

I believe that you can have a reception on the lower terrace that is right beside the beach. When we were there last November we saw a set up for the actual beach area. It had pieces of plywood down for walking and dancing. Very pretty as well. The food at the steakhouse isn't bad. There's a lot more variety at the steakhouse than at the other restaurants. If you do decide to do the lower terrace it'll be an extra $500 for a semi private event. Just make sure you read the fine print on the contract and email Daniela whenever you have questions. I know she dreads opening her email now because I'm emailing her every 2 days of so it seems!

Hi there - we had the lower terrace of the steakhouse and weren't charged $500. Maybe they put us there because of the group size which was 52 people - would have taken up a big portion of the resturant although maybe it has to do with the table setup you ask for. I wanted a U setup and thinking back now - there wasn't really enough space in any one area of the steakhouse to do a U setup for that many people. I really enjoyed the setup down there - it was very private and we could have enjoyed ourselves down there all night had we not rented the disco although we had a lot of fun at the disco too...haha.

Another note on the food - we thought it was beyond EXCELLENT. We didn't have one person say they didn't totally enjoy the supper. It was fabulous and the service was excellent - there was never an empty glass!

We were married Nov 14th - saltocoach - that could have been ours that you saw on the lower terrace...haha. We choose Rememberance week so that people wouldn't have to take an extra vacation day - worked out great - that one extra day helped in how many people came for sure.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
