$15,000??!!? Like real currency, CAD or US? Wow, lol. I'd be laughing in their faces too. No offense to those who worked with them, but I don't think La Luna gets the point of destination weddings. They're supposed to be cheaper. That's more than the cost of most DWs in their entirety. I came across a few togs with outrageous prices myself. Some people just believe their own hype. While I believe in quality, I don't believe in overspending to get it. Even with a recession, that amount is ridiculous, lol.

My second choice was PERFECT.  They had such an amazing package for us and it was all under $3k!!  Great award winning quality.  I was ready to book.  Then they told me they weren't available.  I was devastated.

The third agreed to match the price, but I also discovered she was unavailable for our date.

Since then, we've approached a few other photographers from Toronto, many are just out of our range. I'm still on the hunt for quality, price and service but I am not willing to compromise because I KNOW that there are great photographers out there who are able to do it.

I found La Luna on these forums and when I approached them , I LAUGHED out loud at the screen.  They quoted me $15k+ for the equivalent of the above package. LOL I found myself "settling" with their quality already, I was highly disappointed. Honestly, still laughing. XD

First of all, congratulations!!!!

I was really interested in Merrick Cousley's website and quality of pictures. Do you mind telling me what you thought of his work?

I had NO clue what we were planning on spending on photos before we booked a photographer.  It was an area we just hadn't figured out yet.  I felt confident in who we chose & had a hard time comparing each one's work.  At first, I was thrown off that our photographer didn't give prints, just the digital copies.  After thinking about it though, I didn't necessarily want 300 5x7's.  Just check out each package carefully & see what they are offering

wow, that's outrageous pricing! We are allowing a large budget for the photos because we believe that our photos keeps our wedding memories. But 15K is just too much.

I think costs depends on where the photographer is based and what the package includes. (hours of coverage, TTD, CDs, actual prints, albums, online gallery, copyrights to the images etc)

Packages for NYC based photographers start around 5k so can you imagine flying them down and covering their travel costs on top of that???

Photography is the most important aspect for me so I'm definitely willing to splurge. I would like to support local businesses but from the brief research I've done on some island photographers, the styles don't quite match the look I want.

I hate the fact some resorts charge a fee for bringing in an outside vendor ... do they charge you even if they are staying as a guest of the resort?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
