Heather, I am really sorry you had to go through all of this. You wedding is supposed to be all about you and your FI. You DO NOT need to be babysitting the emotions of anyone, much less a vendor you are compensating.

Thanks also for your honest, civil review. This shows that you can post constructive criticism and don't have to be dramatic or hateful or hurtful.

I sincerely hope that [photographer name removed] can learn how to act in a professional manner because she is VERY talented.

Morgan ROCKS, but we all knew that already!

yeah, as a photographer she is awesome. That is why I was gave her such enthusiastic reviews after my wedding and ignored the stress that came with it.

I have a canvas gallery wrap on it's way with one of my favorite wedding pictures on it...I'm as excited as a dancing bunny bunny_4.gif

As much as I love my pictures though, I do get pretty upset when i think back on all that I dealt with. So my advice to everyone planning if to find an awesome + stress free photographer.

wow, I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. It really hits home to me, as I had a very similar experience with my photographer. There were some good aspects, for one, she offered me a fabulous price and secondly, she was overall nice and friendly (like with my family and everything) and most importantly, I LOVE my photos (even better than I expected) but she was SO HIGH MAINTENANCE! I have never used that exact term to describe her before, but as soon as I read your words I realized that that was a perfect way to describe it. I always felt like I was writing emails to try to make her happy, when it should have been the other way around! She was also really stressed about the travel aspect and she was crazy stressed about doing a good job (she's a major perfectionist, which I saw as being a good thing as I am one too) and about having enough time to photograph. She put so many demands on me before the wedding, it was really not fun to deal with. It's like she forgot it way MY WEDDING DAY and I was the boss, not her. She was the single greatest cause of stress in the 2.5 months leading up to my wedding (which means in the entire planning process once the resort was booked).

There was other stuff too, but I'm going to stop there. The most major cause of stress though is when she saw my review after the wedding. It was 75% awesome and 25% negative (although I seriously downplayed the negative). She completely flipped out at me. You would not believe the emails that followed. It was nuts. I cried for 3 days and got nothing done at work. Some of you will remember the long thread on this forum somewhere when I turned for you guys for advice (and everyone agreed she WAY over reacted to the review because it was mostly very good). So after that I deleted the review, it was just too bad to keep dealing with.

Anyways, all this to say, I know all too well the importance of having a photographer who makes a bride's experience and wedding better, not more complicated.

I had a few hints of problems to come before I booked her, but in my excitement about finding somebody good who I could afford to bring that I pushed those concerns aside. I wish I hadn't. At a few points before leaving I did regret my decision a little. Overall though the experience was not horrible, just not as good as it should have been. But then what happened at the end after the review really ruined it completely.

I hope many future brides will read this and learn from our mistakes! (and no I don't mean not hiring my photographer, I am not out to ruin her business, I mean make sure to book a photographer based on portfolio, price and PERSONALITY!)

Oh yeah, and I wanted to add that I cannot believe Morgan's generosity, WOW!

I'd like to recommend you take away my Mod's Choice Superstar award and give it to her. Although I love my banner, I've had it long enough and it's somebody else's turn and Morgan seriously deserves it for doing this. (I know it's not actually my position to recommend her for it, seeing as it's the "mod's choice" but I just thought I'd point it out as a very small way to recognize her)

Heather I'm so sorry that you had to deal with all this, and that you lost the deposit. Its terrible! I think you did a great job giving an honest review though and I'm positive that it will help a lot of girls out. [photographer name removed] unprofessional behavior will come back to bite her in the a*s one of these days! ugh she makes me sick!

As for Morgan, you're super awesome!! It was so incredibly nice of you to do what you did and I don't know alot of people that would do that! I think you're the best cheesy.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
