Legal Mexican Ceremony- Order of Events?

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies,

I have been trying to find out the order of events for a legal Mexican wedding and the way she translated from Spanish to English just doesn't work well! I am trying to make my ceremony brochures but thought I would see if anyone knew the order of events? I apologize if this is posted somewhere else- I tried to search. Does anyone know if the legal version varies from resort to resort? I would assume not, but you never know!

Here is what I have so far:

Processional

Reading of Names

Signing of Legal Documents & Thumbprints

Reading by a Mexican Philosopher

Wedding Vows

Exchanging of the Rings

Pronouncement of Marriage

Recessional

Please help with the wording if you have any better ways to say something. Or if you think I should exclude anything!

Thanks a million ladies! I hope to get my ceremony brochures printed this weekend so I can check that off my list!

Hi there!

I just had a civil ceremony at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach in Mexico three weeks ago, here's how ours went:

Processional

Reading of Names

Reading by a Mexican Philosopher

Signing of Legal Documents & Thumbprints

Wedding Vows

Exchanging of the Rings

Pronouncement of Marriage

Recessional

I only changed the order of one thing, other than that from what I can tell, everything else is in the exact same order that our wedding was performed in. If you would like, I can provide you with the Reading by a Mexican Philospher that was used during our ceremony if you're curious. Hope this helps! :)

Awesome! Thank you so much for your help! I took Spanish in High School so my translation skills are lacking (my ceremony will be in Spanish since it's on the island).

Thank you so much!

If you don't mind posting the reading I would appreciate it- just so my FI and I can read it over and know what it's about!

You rock!

No problem!! :) For sure! I will post the reading tonight when I get home, they actually gave us a copy of the reading with our marriage certificate, so that was pretty neat. Anyway, I have it at my house and will post it for you later! Good luck with everything!

Mexican Civil Marriage Advices

Ladies and gentlemen, according to the laws of this country we are gathered here to join the bonds of Matrimony which is an honorable status:

_____________ (groom) and _______________________ (bride)

Seeing it is a very important act, I would kindly ask everybody to remain in silence.

As witnesses of this important act, there are present here:

1. ____________________________ 2. _______________________

3. ____________________________ 4. _______________________

Who will sign the marriage document.

A great Mexian philosopher of the nineteenth century, Mr. Melchor Ocampo, wrote in his legendary letter, the following words that until today are always read in our

wedding ceremonies, "marriage", it says is the only legal and moral way to found a family, to preserve mankind and avoid imperfections of the human being who are only able to obtain the perfection of the human race through matrimony in a conjugal duality. Men and women have the same rights, but it is important to observe their respective obligations. Both of you should have respect, fidelity, trust and assistance to one another and also tenderness and love, much love. Do not fight with one another, use your heads and your hearts to correct something wrong.

Both of you should be aware of the great responsibility of being parents, because you should provide your children with attention, good example to follow during the rest of their lives. I now ask two questions to your witnesses.

1. Are ________________ (groom) and __________________ (bride) persons you know well?

2. And are there any objections for them to be joined in legal marriage in Mexico?

__________________ (groom) do you accept ____________________ (bride) as your beloved and wedded wife, __________________ (bride) do you accept _____________ (groom)

as your beloved and wedded husband?

_________________ (groom) and __________________ (bride) after ratifying your wish to get legally married by means of your signature and your witnesses' signature and in the presence of your family and friends in the name of the law and the society and with the authority from the Solidaridad Municipal, here in Quintana Roo, Mexico, I now declare you husband and wife.

You may kiss the bride.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Playa del Carmen, Solidaridad, Quintana Roo. The _____________ (day/month) of _________ (year)

El C. Oficial 07 del Registro Civil.

hmmm, my wc (claudia at dreams cancun) sent me the judge's "speech" and it wasn't anything like that (i don't have it on this computer, but it included a bit of the "love is patient, love is kind" corinthians). she still NEVER has (and i've asked several times) sent me any order of ceremony, or what words they use for ring exchange and vows! she did, however, say i could add a sand ceremony and a reading if i wanted to, but i think i would need to add it at the end, which seems all out of order to me. i want to do programs, but i'll never be able to at this rate!

I wanted to do a sand ceremony and was told I could add this at the end and that a friend would have to say whatever we wanted to add (not the official). So, I think at this point, we have opted just to go with whatever they give us, and call it part of the Mexico experience! We have talked about doing the sand ceremony at the AHR so out guests there could be a part of something memorable. Still thinking that one through.

Thanks for the english version of the ceremony paraisobeachbride2009!!!

I will finish my ceremony programs today :) You girls on this forum are so helpful!

THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!! I have been having a terrible time trying to find anything like this. I am getting married at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya next April 2018 and I wanted to have something printed in English for my guests to be able to follow the Spanish ceremony along with. I have not found anything even close to this. Your help is amazing. Thank you again.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
