wedding dress for AHR or not?

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies,

i see that alot of us plan to do a AHR. i plan on doing one too. i have a question...is it proper to wear ur wedding dress for the AHR? originally i wanted to do that, but when i told my sister she told me that was the whole point of teh wedding in Jamaica. she said ppl are traveling thousands of miles to see me in my wedding dress and that i should think of it as some sort of exclusivity for those ppl who actually traveled to teh wedding.

i agree with her, but now i'm 2nd guessing it! what do u all think?

i won't be wearing mine at the AHR, but that's mostly because our AHR isn't going to be fancy at all ... it will be VERY casual (that is, if we ever freakin' plan it). if we were going to do almost a regular fancy "wedding reception" i think i'd wear it again.

also, are you doing a TTD? wearing it again might not really be an option after that!

I agree with Nurse, I think that's one of the best things about an AHR, having the opportunity to wear your dress again! I'm super excited to wear my dress twice and so are my bridesmaids.

As for your sister's comment about rewarding the guests that travel for your wedding - I doubt that anyone cares whether you wear it twice or not - they're traveling (hopefully) to see your wedding, not to see your dress.

Just decide whether you'd like to wear your dress again and go from there.

I am going to wear my dress until after dinner, then I will be changing. I have to say, I don't agree with your sister at all. While some people were able to travel with us to Jamaica, a lot more were not, and they would like to see me in my dress. A lot of our family and friends felt really bad they couldn't travel with us, so by wearing my dress again, I feel that we are making them feel included in our wedding.

I say hell yeah! Wear it. Your DW wont have as many people and you only get to wear it once but this gives you another chance to wear the most expensive dress you own!!! If I had an AHR, I would totally. My dress is totally trashed tho. But yea, even if your AHR is in a coal mine, wear it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
