Haha...that's going to be my wedding, except all the guests are my FI's family and friends. It will just be me and my MOH (and maaaaybe my parents - they won't give me a definate answer).cry.gif

Bwaa haa...Christian Hanson and the Autistics - love it! FI & I love them. We were going through our music collection a couple nights ago and jokingly said we should include Pump It on the play list! That's funny that your bro actually did!

I don't have any awesome stories like these. The last wedding I went to was an old friend from highschool. We really talked for the last five years - just drifted apart. About a month before her wedding I get a text message - out of nowhere - from her asking "Hey, what are you doing February 27th?" I'm like..."umm...nothing....why?" She replies, "I want to invite you to my wedding." Ok...that's weird. So she asks for my address so she can send me a proper invite. The invite never actually comes (because it likely didn't exsist). She has so many excuses - "I thought my FI mailed it and he thought I mailed it"; "we moved and had trouble finding it."

Whatever...so she ends up texting me the address and times for the ceremony/reception. Once we get to the reception venue, we realized why we got the "last minute invite". The place was over half empty!! Obviously a lot of the people they had invited didn't show and they were trying to fill seats.

So during the speeches, the groom's Aunt gets up to do her "speech" which goes something like this: "Over these last few days we've got to meet the bride's lovely family and I thought it would be nice to introduce you to our family." She then proceeds to go through the entire family tree for about 25 minutes listing every f-ing family member and how they're related and their kids names and blah blah blah blah blah...it was the WORST!!!

Made me swear - no random family members/friends will be giving speeches!!!

I just missed out on a weird family wedding this past weekend...

First, it was a potluck...  But if that wasn't bad enough (and didn't already scream "no budget"), the invitations were sent out on facebook.  No joke!  I've heard of a save-the-date e-mail as a green alternative, and that's awesome... As long as they're still CLASSY!  lol  But to have a potluck reception, the bride wearing a sun-dress, and invites sent as a message on facebook saying "I'm getting married at this time at this place, let me know if you can make it"... That's just BAD!  Although, not as bad as some of these lol

I was at a wedding with some friends and I think my mouth just about fell open when the wedding party sauntered down the aisle in not just red but blood red dresses (that clearly was custom made) with blood red stockings and shoes to match. (OVERKILL)...No... but it get's worse...there were at least 15 bridesmaids and maybe 9 to 10 groomsmen, so some of the groomsmen had to double back to get the other bridesmaids down the aisle... All while doing a dance down the aisle (way before rock the reception and dancing down the aisle was cool)...It may have been cute at a Halloween themed wedding but this was in the middle of spring!!!! WOW!

ROFL this made me laugh so hard. What a random thing to have at your wedding.

Hmm one thing I swore I wouldn't do...

Friends of ours got married at a Golf Club and a bottle of beer was $7 (not even the wedding party got a free drink) so most of the night the guests were out in the parking lot, drinking the beer that they bought at the liquor store down the street.

Hahaha the drinking thing is a big one. At my cousin's wedding, her twin brother gave a very intoxicated speech. NOT classy!

My big wedding no-no are the photos afterwards....I just saw a university classmates photos of her recent wedding in DR. They clearly used the house photographer, and the photos were whited out along the edges, like old 80's wedding photos (the couple inside the champagne glass!)...terrible!

I have one that I found so weird.  We were watching the wedding of a young Christian  couple from our hotel room.  We were on the balcony which overlooks the bar and they had the reception at the outside bar area.  First they had the ceremony in our walkway so we had to cut across on the grass area close to other rooms which we felt weird doing.  Anyway, they are playing Christian music through the whole reception even during the entrance so later as they are finishing eating, they play, "Islands in the Stream".  lol!  I almost choked on my food with laughter.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
