Wwent to a wedding this summer and I've already had FI swear he wouldn't do this. The groom gave a speech and did not say one word about his bride, didn't even look over at her the whole time during the speech. FI knows he must tell me how beautiful I am in front of everyone!! LOL

Great stories here ladies... thanks

Late last summer FI got a phone call from his best friend asking us to come home for the long weekend because he was getting married. Total surprise because we were told they were planning a big wedding for the next summer. But hey, no problem, we pack and go. The morning of the wedding, FI goes golfing with his BF and I spend it with MIL and FIL. When he gets back about an hour before the wedding, I find out that I can't go to the wedding. The bride only wants groom, best man and her MOH. No siblings, no parents, nothing. So I'm stuck again with MIL and FIL. Some friends were planning a bonfire so we decide to make that the "reception". I buy and decorate a cake, and we pick up some beer. Bride and groom show up for about an hour and then leave, because she doesn't want to hang out with his friends anymore?!? A week later, they moved across the country.

Btw... the dinner consisted of parents meeting for the first time at a very casual Chinese restaurant for a quick dinner complete with 1970's decor. And the dinner party only consisted of bride, groom and the 4 parents.

A couple years back my cousin was getting married about 7 hours away in North Carolina.  After my aunt told me I was the guest book attendant (no asking involved) and tell my brother he was the usher we didn't hear anything else about it.  We weren't given any information about where to go or what to do, or even what to wear!  At the rehearsal dinner my aunt told my brother that a groomsman couldn't make it and that he would be the fill in!  Again no one was told what time to be there, where to go or what to do.  I wasn't taking it upon myself to show up early when my cousin didn't even ask me to be there, my aunt told me to.  I showed up about 15 minutes before the wedding and stood by the guest book looking like a complete idiot. All of the rest of my family kept laughing and taking my pic (it really was funny)!  I learned that I will make sure everyone involved knows exactly what to do so they don't feel lost. I would never have my mom tell people they will be in my wedding and what their role is.  If you aren't grown up enough to do this yourself, you shouldn't be getting married.  At the rehearsal dinner the bride and groom didn't even get up to thank everyone for comming.  We saw the grooms father go up to them and let them know they should say something, when they refused he felt bad so he got up and thanked everyone for him.  It was embarassing!  Word to the wise... Let people involved in the wedding know whats going on.  AND be gracious enough to thank the people traveling for YOU!!  lots of venting, thanks for listening!!!

I work at a restaurant that has a decent bar scene on the weekends so we have bands and dancing and we card at the front door.  A couple of years ago, I am managing on a Friday or Saturday night, and the band is going strong, people are dancing, and things are busy.  I get called to the front door.  The Door Guy (who checks everyone's ids) won't let several girls in because they are under age but they want to try to come in anyway.  I tell them they can't, but they beg me and one of them says that she is supposed to get married at my restaurant on the back patio.  I know nothing of this, and ask her to explain.  It turns out that her and the groom just decided to show up and thought that they could get married randomly on the property.  The groom was already inside (because he was over 21) and comes outside to meet the girls.  He is at least 45 or 50, and she is younger than 21 because we can't let her inside!

The best part is that they end up getting married out front on the sidewalk by the ugly gas and water pipes.  And they are married by the drummer, whose band is playing in my restaurant, while on his 15 minute break?!

Word of Advice: If you want to get married somewhere, you might want to call to ask if its ok, and to make sure that you can actually step foot onto the property.  Just a couple hours of planning might have done them some good.

I went to a wedding a couple months ago with a large punch bowl on a table of the bride and grooms favorite punch.  It was like a sangria or something idk. Well it was setup so people could poor themselves some with the ladle in the middle of it.   Well it was pretty for the first 10 minutes or so of the reception but then people were spilling it on the table cloth and later as the night went on kids were throwing things in it and it had floaters and ewww it was just gross. Self serve drinks for parties over like 20 people.  Not gonna work!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
