What's something you saw at a wedding that made you swear...

I know!! Someone emailed that to me and when I stumbled across this thread I just had to find it again and post it as a perfect example of what some of the girls were afraid of! Can you imagine the couple's horror when they saw it for the first time! It's probably a big joke now, but still!

so as a professional wedding attender (ok Im a photographer but I do get to go to a lot of weddings and see a lot of interesting stuff) here are my top three

1. Grooms father was the minister at the wedding, and kept saying his other son's name. Can you say favorite?

2. An out of the way wedding where bridal party was gone for a few hours taking photos (hey I can understand that) but there was nothing for the guests to do, or drink, or eat... I was a guest at this one, so you can't blame me for taking the couple for that long!!! My mom and I drove for 30 minutes to find a place to get coffee, and sat in the car and watched tv on a portable dvd player...for 2 hours...

3. Drunk relatives are always a treat, but there was one in particular that was BAD. So bad that he couldnt find the bathroom and peed off of the balcony that was attached to the banquet hall!

Thats all I've got for now!!

I love this thread- I just remembered something that made me so mad! FI was in his friends wedding a couple of years ago. I didn’t know that group very well yet. There were a couple of hours between the ceremony and reception (they were in different locations too) and the bridal party was expected to go take pictures in this meantime. Fine, whatever, I’ve heard of that before. The clincher was that it was specifically noted by the bride that there were NO SPOUSES (or girlfriends, boyfriends, etc) allowed to the park where pics would be taken. WTF was I supposed to do for 2+ hours until the reception?? RUDE! So I’m driving around aimlessly all fancied up. I think I hit up Target for a bit to shop or something.

Long lines of people lining up for food at the buffet. Or better yet the MC calling up people by table to the buffet. The chaos, the people who cheat and pretend that they are from table 1, when they are actually from table 10; all of that made me promise myself that I would never do a buffet wedding.

Ha, this thread is great! I wish I seen it sooner!

Oh the tackywedding.com site is great! I just can’t believe people would do those things!

I don’t have a good wedding story like everyone else, but my FI and I have said that we won’t do the bouquet and garter toss at our wedding. We had a bad experience at a wedding last year when we were screamed at and told we ruined the wedding when we didn’t want to get and stand in front of 300 people for the bouquet and garter toss. Of course we weren’t the only ones they screamed at, there were two other couples they yelled at, one was engaged and the other was dating for 10 years. And one of the 2 women doing the yelling, one was MOG and the other the groom’s sister, the groom’s sister was engaged and she was refusing to stand up there but yelled at everyone else to go up there (even the DJ told the grooms sister she should stand up there and she gave the DJ a face that would have scared the devil)!!! We both don’t like to be the center of attention, hence the 20 person DW and not a 200 person wedding at home. So we now disappear when that part of the wedding comes up.

Not to be mean... I love my cousin but at her GORGEOUS poolside ceremony she had these christmas ornaments on the tables as a favor and they had photocopied a photo of themselves and stuck inside with confetti and it was really awful. It was just really random and a really bad quality photo. It was odd.
I like this photo, it has a spanish ambience and i love the shadow play.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
