AHR help

Well once again, I seek help from you wonderful ladies.

We've been debating back and forth about having an AHR. I think we've finally come to a decision to have one.

My question is, how many months after you get married (or come back from the wedding) is appropriate for an AHR? Is 6 months afterwards too late? Will people wonder why the heck you waited so long or what is the point of having a party so long afterwards?

Anyone have any input on this? I would appreciate any help.

Thanks a bunch!

I agree 6 months is a long time. Just have a party if you need to wait that long it will still serve the same purpose. I would say 90 days max on a AHR only because you do have to get home and get adjusted and maybe even save some money for the party but 90 day max I think. But you know the saying, "whatever floats your boat!!!"

Ours is going to be no more than a month after our wedding...

Are you having it 6 months later due to weather? You can always have it indoors. We are calling ours a Mr & Mrs. Party, so we won't be doing all the traditional RECEPTION things. I think no more than 6-8 weeks is a good time for AHR. Goood luck with whatever you decide to do.

I don't think it matters when you decide to have your AHR so if you want to do it 6 months from your wedding, go ahead. We are actually having ours 3 wks before our wedding so that we can have it outdoors and have nice weather. By the time we have our wedding and get back from our honeymoon, we're not sure if the weather will be warm enough or too cool to have an outdoor bbq-style picnic. Gotta love New Englad weather!

I agree with GracieBebe...

I think you can have a AHR any time -- even 6 months later!

(Maybe waiting a YEAR is TOO long though, lol:-))

I think people understand the expense of throwing such a party and understand you may want/need to wait a bit...or have to wait b/c of the weather:-)

Whatever the reasons are...I think people are just happy to be invited to a party with free food and booze! shots.gif

Simistar - lol you're so right, anytime there's free booze and food, you'll always see people!

We've actually decided not to have an AHR now. It's too expensive (for us) plus we don't really want to bother. If I had wanted to do major planning, we would have gotten married here.

Thanks for all the great tips! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
