Wedding Insurace - Is it a scam?

I wonder how long does prior knowledge lasts? I am getting married next year and I am hoping this dies down. A hurricane hit a few years ago and could possibly happen again so how do they gauge that?

Yup, even though I am getting married in Jamaica (which has not, to my knowledge, been effected by swine flu as of yet), I think I will spend a little extra money to get it rather than lose everything in the event that something as terrible as this happens next year.

At first, I was thinking, nah, we won't need it, so no sense in spending the money on insurance when we could spend it on something else to make the wedding itself more elaborate. Now I believe it was naive of me to put all of my eggs in the "nothing could possibly happen to ruin the wedding" basket, and insurance is going to have to move waaaay up the priority list of things that need to be purchased for the wedding!

Well if you canceled because of a hurricane, then I believe you'd be covered. But to cancel based on the swine flu would not work. Then again, if your policy allows for cancelation under any terms ~ then heck lie about it and make something else up if you needed to cancel! Right? wink.gif

I guess the point is wedding insurance is a very good idea and should be seriously considered as islandbride pointed out.

This year is swine flu, next year it could be chihuahua flu, the year after will be the end of the world Mayan bug...so who knows what could happen that could screw with your plans.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
