Bad mosquito problem in August?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if there is a major mosquito problem in Cabo during the month of August? I have never been so I have no idea if they have problems with insects but my FGMIL has instilled this fear that all my guests will be eaten by mosquitos during our reception.

If they do, are does Dreams spray for mosquitos or is the outdoors basically at your own risk to be devoured? Maybe I should start looking into mosquito repellants....

Because of the dry desert like climate in Cabo, I don't believe there's much of a mosquito problem there anytime of the year. I've been there throughout the summer months on five different occasions and never had a problem ~ and believe me, apparently I'm quite tasty when it comes to mosquitos because I never go anywhere without being feasted on, lol blush2.gif Now Cancun/RM area....that's a whole other problem!!!

Hello there!

Mosquito problem in Cabo?, not likely at all. I've been living here for 3.5 years and lived in San Lucas as well as San Jose and it's beautiful here, there are mosquitoes, definitely yes, just like there are mosquitoes in Dallas, San Diego or New York smile29.gif I guess mosquitoes don't like it here with the desert-like weather popcorn.gif.

OK THANK GOD for all your responses. I was under the impression that the climate was too dry to harbour mostquitos too but I HATE being bitten so of course I was begining to get upset...I'm going to put this non issue out of my head now. :) Thanks again for another day with a peaceful mind!

Ya, that's one thing you won't have to worry about. I'd never lived in an ocean-side city and another plus here is that cars don't get rusted as in other coastal cities because humidity is low. One never has issues with rust and electronics around the house don't suffer, unless you live right by the ocean......of course, marTin, that's a no brainer! S&M.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
