Getting married in Mexico and REALLY trying to avoid paying for my bridesmaids bouquest, they are $45 each. So I am looking for some alternative ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions for some alternatives bridesmaides bouquets?

lots of people do silk or real-touch floral bouquets and bring them down with them. two other things i've seen are pomanders or bouquets made entirely of shells ... either could be DIY and brought with you.

other than that, you could skip bridesmaid flowers entirely and have them carry paper parasols ... they look great in pics!

I am doing the parasols. The bridesmaid bouquets at my resort START at $110. So that's $330 for flowers that will die after a few days. No thanks. I found parasols for $7 each in my wedding color.

There's also AWESOME parasols that can be hand painted with initials for "love" or whatever you want at:

          Very pretty.

I made my BM's bouquets, it was REALLY EASY! And not expensive at all - I bought the flowers @ Hobby Lobby and they were 50% off, then I tied the stems w/ green flower tape and tied ribbon around them. SUPER EASY!!!

I am making my own flowers for my wedding for a couple of reasons - first is obviously the cost in Mexico for flowers but also because I read somewhere that you can't take flowers out of the country and I want to have some a keepsake. Here is a how to:

I actually think that these would be a cute alternative to flowers, but it would look nicer if it were darker and you could light a candle.

That site also has colored parasols for under $8.

These are really great. Thanks ladies! I was thinking about just one flower a person (I have 7 BM). Is that weird, just one flower?
