I am not having second thoughts, but I have never wanted a big wedding in front of a lot of people. I would miss my Dad there, but he will be at my legal wedding here before we depart for Mexico.

I never wanted a big wedding but I would like for my immediate family to be there. I don't know maybe I'm having mixed feelings because the wedding is less than 2 months away. And we are not having a reception at home so that makes me feel even worse. Sigh...

My future MIL is planning a reception-against our wishes-lol. Maybe you could get a family member to plan a reception for you for when you return-so you can celebrate with your friends and family?? Good Luck to you! :)

We still haven't decided if we are going to elope just the two of us or not...we keep weighing the pros and cons and we're leaning more towards the private one. Most people think of weddings as being a big party and celebration with close family and friends, but I see mine as being romantic and intimate, and no one else can share that with you. If you look at it that way, maybe you will feel better about it?

My fiance and I are having a DW with just the 2 of us, and I could not be more excited!  I grew up in PA, moved to CT after college.  He grew up in VA, and moved to CT as well.  We both have relatives all over the country, so when we get back we're going to have a party in PA and one in CT.  Our family will be attending the PA party, so it will be more formal.  We will probably rent a venue but label it as "party" and include photo albums from our cruise/wedding and try to bring the beach/tropical theme with us!  I even want to get a small tiered cake that will be our wedding cake!  For the party in CT, we are looking to rent a beach house for the weekend or have a BBQ on the beach for all of our friends.  It will be much more relaxed, but fun!  I hope that helps!

At first it was going to be just the two of us. I loved the idea as I knew it would be so much more romantic and meaninful and plus I never wanted a bit wedding. Then FI said he would really like his brother there. Thats when we decided not to do just the two of us, although I wish we were still going to.

I am in the early stages of planning, FI wants "just us two" but I think I will be sad if I can't do all of the wedding fun stuff (like invites, OOT's, etc) plus I don't know what we would do after the wedding and pictures. Do we go out to dinner? I figure we will be excited with no one to share our excitement with.

On the other hand, no one from FI's family will be able to attend (financial reasons). Most of my family will be able to go but I don't want to invite some key people in my family (ie. my mother-which is a long story) but I do want my aunt and best friend there. I know if we invite anyone my mother will be coming which adds a lot of stress to our day :(

I think this is going to be a very tough decision.

That sounds like a tough decision.  I think ultimately you need to do what you want, so that you have the most memorable wedding ever.  If it was just the two of us we were going to have a dinner on the beach after the pictures and ceremony.  I guess it just comes down to what you really want for your special day!

                Hi Airamps,

I too decided on Maroma Beach. We were just going for our 25 wedding Ann,ut I read if you stay 5 nights at the preferred club ocean suite the renwal package was included. My husband has no idea. It's a surprise. We were 19 when we got married and had to share our day withj another family occassion. I didn't wear a wedding dress, or do anything I really wanted. I just don't know what to do?o I were a wedding dress (ooohh I'd love too) Do I pick nusic? is it weird it will be just the 2 of us?

                Scared to death..

                Tee

I'm so glad I found this thread!  FI and I may be having a DW with just the two of us and it was starting to bother me. I'm glad we're not the only ones!
