Will you be having a ceremony? we are having one on the beach. Where are you getting married? I'm getting married at Secrets Maroma.
Hi,
Yep, we're having a ceremony, and I will be using music when I walk to the altar, not sure which song yet though. I have gone back and forth trying to pick a resort. I've gone from the Dominican Republic, to Mexico, to Jamaica. Now, I'm thinking of just sticking with the initial place I wanted to go, which is Dreams Los Cabos. I've always loved the gazebo there.

Well it will be great then if I am the first one!! :) I am a little nervous of how it will be recieved where it was only my husband and I, but hey - that's the great thing about weddings, each one is unique to the bride and groom (the 2 most important people on the wedding day)

There is a thread on here on AHR (at home receptions) for when you return. Take a look.
You know, this is one thing I've been thinking about: Who will help me get dressed?! I want my hubby to be surprised when he sees me, so I don't really want him to help. The bigger packages at Dreams include someone to help you get dressed, but I'm getting the smallest package, which doesn't include the help. Maybe the photographer will help me? ha!

My husband and I just got married at the Iberostar Grand in Mexico on 3/6/09 and it was just the 2 of us. It was such a romantic day and absolutely perfect for the 2 of us. We are planning a "wedding celebration" this summer back at home for familiy and friends! The WC at the resort helped me with the details of the day including flowers, the arch for the beach, and even helped me zip up the dress! :)
Congrats! I think that Bride/Groom only weddings are so romantic. It allows you to just focus on each other. When I got married it was just my husband,my best friend and I. And this time, for our vow renewal, I thought we would make it a big event but in the end we decided to go it alone again, though I will tell my family, just in case they want to come, but I doubt they will. Not that they don't love me, but it is pricey and considering it's not an actual wedding just a VR, I don't think it's necessary for them to spend that much money.

What about a housekeeping lady? That shouldn't be too expensive. :)

iberostar, I can't wait to read your review and see your wedding pics!! I am so happy to hear that your day was perfect! Gives me goose bumps, I can't wait for ours. Did you choose to have an AHR back home? FI and I are going to do that...nothing big, it'll be a very casual BBQ party. I commend those couples that go at it alone...one of the main reasons FI and I decided to get married just the two of us is because we felt having guests would take away from OUR special day and make it about them and making the guests happy...and it should be about the bride and groom. After we made our decision, I have been having so much fun with the wedding planning process. I think this is the way it was meant to be for me and my FI and we don't regret our decision.

I must say that my situation is a little different also. I am a widow who just 4 years ago had a beautiful big themed colors, etc wedding and just want this one to be romantic and simple and no fuss - but still beautiful and memorable.

thanks...
Would your families be upset if you pulled this off?

We thought about sneaking off to Vegas and eloping and just having a reception later to save money. We realized later that our families would kill us as soon as we returned home.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
