It happened.. I was let go from my job.

I'm sorry to hear about your job, I can't imagine what you must be going through. I have been lucky so far, I work for the State and we are looking at furloughs next fiscal year but there have not been any talk of layoffs in my office (cross-fingers). Many of my friends have not been so lucky.

Its been a few days just thought I'd see how you were holding up, espcially with the start of the new week and not heading off to work on Monday...

Let us know if you need anything.

Shannon, I to was laid off one month after my wedding. I have been off of work since October 2008. My job was not nice enough to pay unemployment until the severance ran out. At first I was kind of happy and excited because maybe it was an opportunity to move to NC or SC. I decided to take a little vacation to St. John, VI, then I started taking classes for Graphic Design, then I took a part time job working with H&R Block. All the while I was sending resumes and putting in applications. Never did I even get one interview! It is very rough out here. The DH and I decided this is not the best time to move to a state where we have no family nor do we even know anyone. So I decided to start looking for a job. I was in IT but I don't want to do that anymore. I was starting to get a little panicky when an opportunity landed at my feet. I am now in the process of becoming half partner in an upscale consignment shop. I just love working in this store! No stress, I can work 3 days a week and still go to school. Because the shop is still relatively new, I will not really be getting a salary from it yet so I still need to find something part time, but I don't think that will be as much of a problem as finding fulltime employment. Everyone is right. When one door closes, another opens. Keep your head up and stay positive. I went through the depression and gained 20 lbs. So don't be like me. Take a little break then treat your job search like a job. Good luck to you.

I am so sorry to hear that you were laid off. I went to church today and one of the things that I took away with me today is that, "As one door closes another one will open." With lots of prayer what lies behind that new door is going to be wonderful. You are in my thoughts and prayers....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
