Pregnant Travelling to Mexico for wedding??

Hello

me and my partner are getting wed at the Azul Sensatori in Mexico on the 8th June 2009. One of my travellers has recently found out that she is pregnant and will be in her 29th / 30th week on returning from Mexico. She has already been able to find holiday insurance to cover herself and her unborn child - They will cover up to the 34th week. Her doctor has said it will be fine for her to go, but her midwife was not to keen on the idea and told her to do some research on the hospitals around the hotel!

Does anyone know about hospitals in this area? And the closest one to the Azul Sensatori? Would it be wise for her to travel?

Many thanks

Miriam

I just got back from cabo last week and am over 5 months pregnant. Last time I went when I was 6 months pregnant. There was a lady next to me on tha plane 6.5 months pregnant. Lots of people go on babymoons now.

I personally wouldn't travel at 34 weeks because I get so friggin big it starts to get really uncomfortable.

I think it's really up to her how she feels. I'm not sure what they closest hospital is to you, but we've had lots of hospital experience in mexico. Every time we go someone breaks an arm, a nose, has to have stitches, one time a cousin busted her chin open. The hospitals have always been great and the ambulance is quick. We actually felt better taken care of then we do at our local hospital.

My only recommendation is to make sure she has a refundable ticket. My sister (my MOH) will be 32 weeks pregnant when we go. She is planning on coming, her doctors says its fine, etc. I bought her ticket but made sure i could refund it. You never know what can happen and if she ends up on bed rest or having complications she'll probably need to refund her ticket and it would really suck to have a non-refundable and be out a few hundred bucks!

Make sure she is okay w/ it. 30 weeks you start to get really uncomfortable and if she's coming w/ you from North Wales, it could be a long flight so I recommend business or first or making sure is comfortable w/ the possibility of long flight in coach.

One thing that she should really be aware of though...since you are flying from Wales, probably a long flight is to get up and walk around several times during the flight because of the risk of blood clots and of course drink lots of water when she is out in the heat, and take breaks from being in the heat and go inside.

This is a hospital I found when I googled it, it was started by a US emerg doc.

tell her check out this link to the hospital, sounds like they have adequate specialties, OB, pediatician, neonatologist on call 24/7. That's more specialties than you would get if you live in a small town and are delivering your baby. I really wouldn't be too worried.

I just got back from Mexico and I was in my 5th month. I've also heard that after the 34th week you should do any traveling.

And just like everyone else has stated, after a certain point you get bigger and it's hard to more and everything hurts you just don't feel like doing anything.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
