Wearing dress for AHR?

Recommended Posts

I'm not wearing mine only because I got a more casual dress for the AHR. I actually got a Watters dress that comes in a shorter length but is still considered a wedding dress.

So I've got 2 wedding dresses, such a prima donna. doh.gif

Since most of you are wearing yours again and give perfectly good reasons for doing so, I'm going to wear mine too! I wanted to wear it again since there will be so many people at the AHR that won't make it to Mexico, so now I'm glad to know that it's totally acceptable to do so!

Yeah! Do it!

I'm totally late on this. But I voted "yes" because my friend Monica is wearing her's to her AHR. Although she does have a more casual dress to change into for later in the evening. The AHR is going to be at my FIL's winery out in the country. . .pretty casual for the most part, so she's pretty much wearing it to let the guests see it and to do a traditional cake cutting/photo op that her mother insisted on! :-) But I think she is pretty excited about having an excuse to wear it again!

Okay, I am still not sure if we are doing an AHR or not, but if we do, I am without a doubt wearing my dress again. It was the most expensive piece of clothing I ever bought, and I love it, so of course I will wear it. lol Its my party I can wear what I want to.

I bought a dress from White House Black Market for my AHR. As much as I would love to wear my wedding dress, I am having two AHR's, both before the wedding ceremony in Mexico, and I kind of wanted to save that dress for that occassion. is it weird that I want Rob to see me in it for the first time in Mexico at what we would consider our wedding date? If the receptions were after the fact, I think I would wear it, although they are both going to be casual events, so I would stick out like a sore thumb.

By the way, this makes me think of something. I don't know how many of you are getting legally married in the states before you have your ceremony in Mexico, but this is the route that we're taking. For those of you that are doing this, which date are you going to celebrate as your anniversary? The date that you got your marriage license, or the date the you had your ceremony? Just curious.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
