Do you think this is too formal?

Recommended Posts

So I am totally in love with this dress and honestly didn't think I was ever going to worry about this- but do you think my dress is too formal? I of course am thinking if it on the light ivory - not the blue. Anyways, I am getting married here : www.lekliff.com in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The venue itself isn't necessarily beachy but it definitely isn't super formal. I am eager to hear other people's thoughts. The dress is Brigham - Blue by Enzoani. Here was the best pic I could find.

Its beautiful!

I say, this is your wedding and you should get the dress you want REGARDLESS of where you are getting married. You dont want to get a 'destination dress' just b/c you are having a destination wedding and then wish later you had gotten your dream dress. As long as your groom and the bridal party are in line with what your wearing I think its perfect!

The dress is gorgeous! My personal opinion is don't let the location entirely determine your dress...I tried to go for the destination dress styles but in the end I've got a beaded ivory dropped waist and having it altered to a sweep train from a cathedral. It's the dress I fell in love with and knew it was the one.

That being said, I can just imagine the Wow Factor this dress you want would have in your photography against the sand and ocean. I say go for it!!

It is beautiful! Go for what you want. When I went trying on dresses and I told the salesperson I was getting married in Cuba their first reaction was "oh so you want to look at the destination dresses", and I said no way! I said I would try on those to but did not want to limit myself and to keep my options open. Even though my wedding in on a beach it is still my wedding day - wear whatever you want :)

I think it's a beautiful dress and it would look gorgeous against the beautiful blue sea background. If you love it, get it. You don't want to regret it later on.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
