No wedding party

Recommended Posts

Do most people who do DW not have wedding parties? I planned to have a small wedding party of three bridesmaids and one of them has stated that she wasn't interested because of the expense. Did any of you decide not to have a wedding party and what were your reasons for having one or not.

I agree with Michelle in that I didn't want to deal with any stress so I just had my BFF as my MOH, her daughter was my FG & my DH had a BM. That was it.

When I asked some other GF's to be my BM's, it seemed like it was going to be very difficult for all of them to work together since everyone has such different personalities & tastes.

In the end, I don't regret not having more of a wedding party & it worked out fine.

I didn't want a large bridal party because we are having around 40 guests in Mexico and I thought it wouldn't look right having 12 people in the bridal party. If we were having a huge wedding at home, I could totally understand it....That was just my opinion. I am just having my sis as my MOH and my FI is having his brother as his BM. There are a ton of girls on BDW who have a lot of ppl in their bridal party and they loved it. It is your choice! =)

I would agree - if your group isn't large to begin with it would look strange to have 12 people in your wedding party. I don't think it strange to have just a best man/maid of honour or none at all.

I'm actually having trouble cutting my orignial list of bridesmaids, just because i think i have way too many for the size of my wedding.

We aren't having a wedding party. There are 17 guest in total, I have 2 sisters so that would total 4 out of 17 standing (plus FH would have to figure out who he would want to stand) so we decided to not have any. We wanted to keep things as simple as possible. I think you can do whatever it is you want, it is your wedding and what is important is doing what makes you and FH feel comfortable and special :)

Hi! I was having the same dilemma. Luckily, I have one sister and she will be my MOH. My future husband has 2 brothers and they will be the BM(s). We are getting married in Maui and are expecting at least 75 people, but we did not want to deal with a big entourage. I have some really supportive friends whom I am planning on incorporating into the ceremony, such as presenting the symbolic gifts or doing a reading. Make your own rules and do what feels right for you.

Hi there,

Like fudgie said, we had a group of 18 going (including us, so 16 guests) and we felt that it would be nicer for everyone to sit back and enjoy the ceremony rather than having them participate so we had no wedding party and have no regrets about it! Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
