Parents' gifts suggestions

Recommended Posts

I searched for a thread for parents gifts and was unable to find what I was looking for in previous threads. So I figured I'd start fresh with my own thread. My parents are paying for the majority of our wedding. I want to give them a gift with meaning not an engraved pen, or an personalized bath robe. What are you giving your parents as a gift? All suggestions wll help.

We really truggled because the usual gifts were horrible for our parents. we also didnt want to spend more on one than the other. Our parents were all so different so it was very hard! We've decided on deluxe picnic coolers. My parents ride their 4-wheelers out in the mountains to have lunch all the time so it woulld work welll for them. Joes parents are always traveling around the world and they always have a bag w/ wine, sandwich stuff, cheese, etc. So we are getting them a picnic cooler that holds a bottle of wine and glasses. We'll have them embroidered w/ their last names.

I'm having a hard time with this too.

We have decided to surprise our parents with a romantic breakfast in bed at the resort the morning after the wedding.

Then, I was thinking of giving my mom a photobook of us from earlier years until the wedding and my dad a photoframe of the same idea. I won't be able to give this until after the wedding though. I was also hoping that I could give something to them at the wedding or before.

i had a hard time with this too. i had a hard time finding them a gift "together" so i got them both a separate gift. its depends on how much you want to spend and what your parents are into, if they collect anything, etc. like my dad likes watches so i decided to get him an antique looking pocket watch, engraved. i got my mom a wooden musical jewelry box, the tune is somewhere over the rainbow, she loves that song.

heres a nice website someone on bdw gave me, sorry i cant remem who, but its great.

swarovski has really beautifull frames too. If there are stores near you, check it out, they have things in store that are not on line.

you could do a nice photo album or something too.

my mom is easy b/c she absolutely looooves earrings, but I have no idea what to get for my dad! He's one of those guys who only ever wants what he needs, but everything he needs he already has!

I would have done the whole photo album thing, but we're living in the US for a few years while my FI goes to school and I don't have access to any photos sad.gif

Also, how does it work with my fiance's parents? Do I get them gifts...does he get them gifts...do we both get them gifts, or do we get them gifts together?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
