My doctor supports the medicine and said he has had many more positive responses to it then negatives.

 

I know it will affect everyone differently- some people love some people hate it- so I figure it's worth giving it a shot and see how it is for me.

I'm working on quitting smoking as well! Something that I know has helped me a lot is investing in a good hookah. I slowly weened myself off of cigarettes and started smoking only hookah tobacco, which is way better for you (none of the preservatives or tar) and then slowly started mixing in shisha with it (which is just a flavored herb). Basically I'm just smoking air three times a week, and it's killed my cigarette cravings basically completely.

The only down side to this is that if you have nosy neighbors, there is a strong chance that they may think you're sitting on your porch smoking pot.....which is slightly embarassing. the hookah looks a bit like a bong.

yea i was always a happy smoker! Its a hard choice to give up a good friend...........a moment alone, quiet time to yourself away from the world! But is is worth it for your heath and you will be so happy with yourself when you know you can do it.

Well, I've got one ciggy left, a box of patches, and a FH who's freaking over our wedding expenses. I'm gonna put on a patch before I go to sleep, go out for one more smoke, and give this another go. Maybe if I can just get to Hawaii where no one smokes, I'll actually have a chance this time!!! wish me luck!!

I know a lot of people who used Chantix and it's worked for them... for those who have smoked for a very long time might look into a Nicotine Replace Therapy (NRT). I think its easier for closet smokers to quit smoking if they aren't addicted to the nicotine. But for those who are it's a little more complicated. I think many of you ladies are on the right track. Get the support you need along with a nicotine replacement to help with the urges... Good luck!!

Today is day 5 for me with no ciggs... I always thought getting over the 2 or 3 day hump would be the hardest part, but day 5 is not easier at all! I know it'll take a long time, but I'm just so antsy, irritable and impatient. Ugh!

I didn't start today. Instead, I ended up buying a pack of Vietnamese Marlboro Lights on the street for 5 bucks! They're so gross, I can't even tell you!! Anyway, tomorrow's another day...

Hey, I just found this forum and I think it's great to have a little support system!

I actually quit recently after smoking for over 10 years!!!

If anyone wants to try a different method (no patches, gum, drugs, etc), it worked for me.

I know it will sound ridiculous at first, but I swear it worked for me and others I know.

It's actually a book! You have to keep smoking as your reading it, and at the end it has final instructions that are totally easy to follow. Basically it doesn't lecture on how bad it is, but shows you how to be in a certain state of mind while quitting.
