Ocean Sand - Punta Cana

Recommended Posts

I am considering having my wedding at Ocean Sand resort in Punta Cana. I am trying to set a date for March 2010. Has anyone gotten married at this resort and if you can offer some advice. Also if the rates are reasonable.

Thanks,

Crystal

Hi Crystal,

I haven't been to a wedding at this resort, but I was there for a vacation January 16-23rd this year. It was a really nice place, beautiful polls, great food, great rooms. I checked out the gazebo in the garden for the weddings, and it was really nice. Though it isn't near the beach-(we were looking for a wedding gazebo location that backs onto the water. ) The only downfall I found was the time-share people are quite aggressive at this resort. I found that quite annoying, but as long as you say NO, and don't let them make you feel bad, you will be just fine.

We also checked out the Punta Cana Princess which is right down the beach from the Ocean Sand. It is a great resort, though I preferred the Ocean Sand. There are 2 parts to the ocean resort-ocean sand and ocean blue. No real big difference between the two, so don't worry.

Happy hunting!

I am getting married at the Ocean Sand this May. I have heard alot of great things about it, and the price is fairly reasonable, we are flying from Toronto. The Wedding Coordinator is great, she is really quick to respond and very helpful so far. We are getting married in the Garden Gazebo. I kind of like taht it's a little bit away from the beach, it seems more private. I might be able to help if you have any specific questions.

Hi Crystal,

The wedding coordinator's name is Ada (she's fairly new) and she is great. She is really quick to reply to e-mails and is great in answering any (and all!) of my questions. Her e-mail is: bodas.hobs@oceanhotels.com.do

Also, we will be getting married the night before we leave, in the Catholic Church. I contacted a Pastor (whose information I got on this forum) and his name is Rick York, and he speaks English which I heard is rare for DR (otherwise Ada would be doing the translating during the ceremony) and Rick York offers a very reasonable price so we booked him. The great thing is that he performs it like a real ceremony, so our guests wouldn't even have to know that we were already married... he does the ring exchange, vow exchange, everything. I didn't want my guests to feel like they "missed the real ceremony" so he is pretty much going to duplciate it, which I am really happy out. I can give you his contact info if you are interested.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
