OOT Bags...when to distribute??

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I'm worried about the extra weight with carrying all my OOT bag items. Do they usually get distributed at the resort and if so, any issues with mailing the items to the resort before hand. I'm planning on having a couple of items but with the amount of clothes I usally pack, how are others handling this?

Thanks for your help.

Some hotels charge a fee to store things shipped ahead and how expensive is it to ship. It may be cheaper to carry them on the plane with you especially if you have anything that's fragile. I plane to carry them on the plane with me and pack more than what I usually pack so that I can still carry on a personal item and a the bag with my OOT stuff.

I have also heard that some people pack an extra suit case and when they meet their guest at the airport those who only have one suitcase ask if they would mind taking a second one for you. They have a tag ready and just put the person's info on it.

I was also wondering when to distributehuh.gif I am getting there at the same time as everyone else and was thinking about giving them out in the airporthuh.gif Do you think that would be a good idea since there will be lots of stuff in teh OOT bags that they could use for a long trip! I honestly dont want to pay to ship it there earlier and I don't want to lug around that much luggage.any ideas??

I was also thinking of the airport but I know that at Pearson Airport in Toronto you can't take on any carry on with a certain amount of liquid. My girlfriend ended up distributing her items amongst her family and setting everything up at the resort. It's probably the best route.

I hear there can be problems getting boxes you ship through customs. That being said, I am planning to carry on additional suitcases and pay the surcharge on them. I am going to try and do one hard suitcase and one sost so that I will be able put one suitcase into the other one for the trip home.

A lot of resorts won't let you ship things prior to arrival, so make sure you check with your hotel.

Another option is to see if there is an upgrade available on your flights...I know from Canada if you fly on Skyservice Airlines there is a $200 round-trip upgrade where you get an extra 10kgs of baggage allowance...plus free drinks on board among other things! Check if you have this kind of option!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
