CANADIAN OOT BAG info...where to shop!

Strange.... MH was all about that idea as he did like the idea of carrying anything to the pool.  Ours were a big hit, even with the women that carry purses all the time.

So today at the dollarstore I found what is technically a passport holder, although I think it is too small for a passport. They are black and have CANADA and  flag or maple leaf on them. They have two zippered pockets and a netted pocket in the back. They are worn around your neck and come with one of those knobs things you slide to adjust the length. I can put a card/note in the netted pocket...and best of all, I'm certain they are an item my guests will reuse! They were $1.50 each and are good quality. Such an easy addition to my welcome bags without the work! They are light weight so will be easy to transport. I am attaching a photo...Just thought I'd share as these excited me so! LOL

Darnit!! I wish I would have waited for flip flops until May 21st.. I bought 4 pairs for my girls .. they ended up costing me about 12$, not THAT bad. But I'll get myself a couple pairs and maybe the groomsmen if they're only 1$ WOW. Thanks!

I received my mini stainless steel cocktail shakers yesterday!!! I ordered 15 of them from Beaucoup (wedding favor website). They are in California but ship to Canada. I also ordered 24 cocktail infusions (lavendar citrus, 8 per box).. the total with shipping came to 139$. UPS delivered them and I had to pay 20$ duty fees to the UPS guy.. so all that for 160$. Not too bad considering I checked everywhere online for mini cocktail shakers and they were AT LEAST 8$ each plus a ridiculous price for shipping so I'm happy happy!

I'm going to guy some ribbon and little cardstock to make name labels for each shaker.

I'll probably write my planning thread mid-June so I'll post the link here when the time comes so you can all check out the pics!

Thanks for posting about the UPS charges. So you were home then when they delivered? Wonder if you are not home, do they leave it or take it somewhere for pickup and payment????

If you are not home, they will leave you a thing that says they tried to deliver but will be back the next day and the driver usually writes the amount you owe on it.  If you know approximately when it will be delivered you can call UPS and get the amount you will owe in duty/customs - then you can leave a cheque for them (made out to UPS) in an envelope that tells the driver that he/she can leave the package (and tell them where to leave it...ex. on the front porch, behind the flower pot).  This is how it worked for me multiple times when I wasn't home for delivery and it wasn't a problem!

Thanks KCB2011----I'll keep that in mind.......is the amount of duty due, based on the value of the package or weight?

Thanks, Lasallebabe

Guardian Pharmacy - Chapstick sale! Guardian is part of the 'Rexall family' of pharmacy's.. and I picked up several chapsticks (not the chapstick brand but you know what I mean) WITH SPF for a pretty good price:

These were three in a pack (fruit flavors with SPF 15) rexall brand for $1.49

I noticed there was also an empty rack of two-pack rexall brand chapstick with aloe that would also have been $1.49 but they were all gone...

Then when I was walking out I noticed these ones on sale too and picked them up for the younger girls coming, my nieces, they were on for $1.79 for a pack of three:

Now I don't know if this is all Guardian Pharmacy's, or all places (like the Medicine Shoppe, PharmaPlus, I D A) that carry the Rexall brand, but I thought I would pass it along! I wish you guys luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
