Interesting about the duty! I got my maracas from a shop in Texas (I think), but had to pay 30 bucks or so in shipping. And the maracas only cost 100 bucks originally! Maybe they weren't originally made in texas... Hmm..

I will let you know what/if I pay when the mugs show up!

That makes sense! But why is it that sometimes I don't pay duty? I don't understand this part! I buy stuff on ebay sometimes and I don't ever remember paying duty.

I know! When I travel across it's different, when I order something on ebay or someplace it's like a random thing. And when you go to the post office and get that frigging card that says you owe this much, it sucks. Theres one website I order from every Christmas (its like the animal rescue site or something like that?) and I ALWAYS pay duty on my stuff from them. I know if a seller marks the parcel they're sending as a 'gift' (which is illegal) then you don't get charged for duty for a gift.

Here is a good site to get info about us/canada shipping and what you really pay. You do pay taxes and sometimes brokerage fees and only duty on imported items made in other countries besides North America. And you have to remember just because you buy from the states doesn't mean that it was made there. Hopefully this is helpful!!! Oh and most ebay sellers do ship as a gift, even though they are not suppose to. Sometimes it really depends on the amount and size of the package and how it crosses the border, us post, ups, fedex, etc. Most good sites will send you to a borderfree site that tells you how much you will pay for all of it, like OT does.

Hi Shelly,

I bought some clear bags at dollarama for the smaller stuff and then I got Glad bags at dollarama that come with tags...that way you don't have writing on them . I made my labels on Vistaprint using the post cards. One Canadian bride posted her bags probably about a month or so ago and I liked them so much, I made mine like hers. If you search for Oot bag labels or oot bag threads, you should find some photos and ideas. I made my own labels for my pashiminas using blank labels from Staples. I used the wording that another bride used. Check pashimina tag threads or for other types of tag threads.

I hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
