CANADIAN OOT BAG info...where to shop!

Recommended Posts

Well we did our shopping in Maine last weekend and had a fab fab fab time. Said yes to the dress and ordered two bridesmaid dresses too, at David's Bridal. Picked up Tide handwash/sink packs, Shout wipes in little boxes of 12 wipes per box, and Advil at the Christmas Tree Shoppes (Shops? I seem to remember an e in there - anyway). Picked up my little sunblocks from Target for 0.99 cents each, and picked up those little Wisp toothbrushes at the Dollar Tree - I wasn't planning to get them but when I seen them there for a dollar I couldn't resist. Oh and I couldn't find any gatorade pouches at Big Lots but I did pick some up at the grocery store there in Maine, and they had the Gatorade G2 as well which was great, because quite a few of our guests are diabetic and Gatorade has so much sugar in it, but the G2 lower calorie stuff is not so bad at all. I was really surprised I didn't really get anything from Walmart (since I love Walmart in the states for like a billion other things) except for like two packs of Tums in case I need a couple more. I already have my Bubbas and didn't even look for them in Maine because I didn't want to tempt myself into picking one up for EVERYone since they are so big and I'm having nightmares about packing stuff already.

Oh and I went into Bath and Body works because you guys are always talking about it :P and picked up really nice smelling hand sanitizers, 5 for $5, so I picked up five for my bridesmaids. And a loofah for me in my wedding color, but that's not for the trip or anything.

Oh and another thing I picked up at Walmart, they were selling bolts of pre measured fabric for five bucks each. All different kinds and colors. I picked up a bolt in my wedding color with the idea in mind that since we're all travelling as one group, I want to tear strips of fabric and attach it to everyone's luggage. That way, whenever we see a suitcase with my turquoise color hanging off the handle, the people in our group will just grab it so we'll collect and keep all the luggage together.

The only thing I don't have are the bags themselves, and I was in negotiations with another bride on here who had bought too many and was going to sell me hers, but then her wedding date was approaching and finally she was off to her wedding and I haven't heard from her again. Hope she didn't forget about me. I know it's going to be hard for me to stay away from here after my wedding.. me and my fiancee already live together and it's not like anything is going to change much after the wedding, it's just kind of making it official kind of thing. And this is supposed to be like one of the biggest celebrations you'll ever put on, so.. :D Which is why I'm so OOT obsessed maybe?? lol.. I was saying on our way home from the USA "I'm so happy I'm almost done with my oots" and my mom is like "Can't you please say youre DONE?! Just say you're done! You have so much already" and went into her tirade of how are we going to pack all of this, etc.. oh dear. embarrest.gif

Avon update - if any of you are looking for manicure kits, the Avon order thats going out next weekend (Campaign 20) has these little manicure kits in their Outlet flier - it's called the Brights Manicure kit and its a pretty stripey kit on for $2.99, was $10. I'll put a pic below. Also, I took a peek at the next campaign (orders due Oct 2nd) the ALOE is back on sale, it's $1.99, not the $1.89 price as before but only a ten cent difference, and it's a really nice size.

Ok, manicure kit pic in case anyone is interested:

I JUST got back from Buffalo and am thrilled to say that my OOT shopping is done!!! :) Well....at least until I find the next big deal! haha.

Here are a few of my finds so hopefully this will help you out when planning your trip:

Hobby Lobby (There is one about 10 min from Walden Galleria) - Best place for flowers! Great selection and good prices. I picked up some to make my hair piece and they are 50% off right now. Also got some feathers, ribbon and hair barrettes....again, all 50% off.

Michaels - selection not very different from here. Only picked up some cute iron on t-shirt transfers saying 'Bridesmaid' etc. for $1 each. No big deals here.

Target - all of their bug repellent is on clearance. Was able to pick up several packages of the Off towelettes for $3 each (8 per pack).

WalMart - Shout to go wipes (can't remember if it was $2.49 or $2.79 for a pack of 12). Colgate wisps individuals 16 for $5. I stocked up on candy too....20 individual packs of Skittles for $1.98 and large bags of individually wrapped lifesavers for $2.50

Bit Lots - obviously stock is dependent upon the location, but some good OOT finds to be had. I picked up 10 packs of portfolios in tropical colours for $1.50 per pkg. (am using these to put all my Vistaprint docs in...welcome letter, schedule etc.). They also had 4 packs of tropical Blistex lip balm spf 15 for $3.

Joann Fabrics - if you go to the supercenter they do have a decent selection of flowers...just didn't have much in my colours. Picked up some beautiful feathers for my hair piece though...used a 40% off coupon.

Dollar Tree - I wish I had gone to Dollar tree at the start of my OOT shopping. SOOOO many great finds. This trip I picked up playing cards 2/$1, little round packages of nail polish remover pads for my bridesmaids $1, pink bismuth (similar to pepto) $1, crystal light and hawaiian punch singles to go for water bottles...8 or 10 in a pack for $1, 4 x 5 stick packs of trident gum $1. They also had the battery operated plastic votives for my reception...not just the plain candles but the ones in the actual votives 2/$1. This is a HUGE find as I looked everywhere and they cost around $2 each everywhere else. Other OOT items they had were Advil, various medications, cute Colgate toothpaste/toothbrush kits, Colgate wisp 4 packs, and lots of candy all $1...good selection of sugar free candy if you have diabetic guests.

Bath & Body Works Outlet mall - Charmed life body lotion for $1 each. They also had lots of hand sanitizers on sale for 50% off so 75 cents each and mini candles 3 for $5. Don't forget to sign up and get your email coupons before you go...this week was a free mini-candle with your $10 purchase.

Hopefully that helps! If you have something specific you were looking for let me know in case I saw it on my travels. Happy Shopping!

I want to attempt to be strategic and get as many deals as possible.  Here is the store list I have so far.  If you have any recommendations or suggestions, I would love to hear them!

Hobby Lobby - real touch flowers and bouquet supplies

Michaels - floral, decor, invitations/paper and OOT supplies

Target - OTC medication, shout wipes, bug spray wipes?,

Walmart - bubbas (might be too late?)

Davids bridal - dress, shoes, etc etc.

Big Lots - various OOT items.

Any other spots that I might not be thinking of in the Buffalo area that you girls hit up!?

If you read into the info where they are saying to send them what you want on the mugs, etc etc, there is actually a link that you can get a quote on duty.  I think it works out to a max of $30 for the 50 mugs.  Maybe even $20....I'm getting mine from here too...it's really not that bad...(I think it's just the 13% tax, but they ship UPS, be sure someone is home to get them...or they send it back after 3 tries...)

has anyone purchased them before? if so did you have to pay duty on them when they came across the border?

On another note...where is everyone finding their bags for the OOT bags??  I can't find anything decent online...Or I do and they don't ship to Canada sad.gif

I ordered mine from Oriental Trading. They ship to Canada! Some other girls got theres from OT as well. I worked out the price and with shipping/tax/duty (I can't remember if I paid duty or not) the bags were just over $2 each. I ordered 60 of them.

I ordered mine from 4imprint.ca. Located in Canada no duty and wide selection of options. I got 35 bags (backpack style), with custom wording and 35 stainless steel tall, wide mouth type of water bottles also with printing from them for about $400. They are both awesome & exactly what I wanted! I'll try and post pics later.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else.
