CANADIAN OOT BAG info...where to shop!

Recommended Posts

I've been to the states twice since I started my OOT bag shopping, and for the little tubes of Advil, you're not going to get a much better price in the states, it's about $2 there too, so grab the dollarama ones and save yourself the (increasing) exchange rate and any duty fees. Great place to buy those little gatorade packets though. If you are interested in the little packets, the Dollar tree does have them 3 packets to a box, but I figured everybody would need more then 2 advils for the week.

Okay, so on my last trip to the states (Black Friday shopping extravaganza last weekend - was the best yet!!) I sent two of my boxes to the hotel I will be staying at in Florida before we depart on our cruise wedding April 28th. I had to clear it with the hotel first to make sure they can store it for me until then, but I sent two boxes via UPS (not USPS as I had planned) and with the help of a very nice lady at the Staples UPS counter, we shipped both boxes (about 20lbs each) for roughly 40 bucks total! The boxes were the storage boxes you see in offices and stuff ('borrowed' a couple of boxes from my office). You know the kind you put file folders in to archive them? Or the same sort of size boxes that reams of paper come in for your photocopier? That size.

So yeah, 40lbs of my stuff is currently making its way to Florida. Everybody cross your fingers that it gets there and will still be there when I arrive in April! That's saving me almost a suitcases worth of luggage weight/space, so I'm pretty happy.

We are doing per couple too, but we will be folding a second bag and tying it with ribbon, then putting it in the OOT bag.  That way our couples aren't trying to cram stuff into one.

Are you ladies putting OOT bags together per couple or per person? We have about 30 people booked and are expecting a few more last minute bookings. How many bags do you think I should put together?  Better to have too much than too little though I guess lol.

Thanks!!

Tell us what you bought Annie!

I always wanted to go down for Black Friday, but haven't got the nerve yet!

Hi all!  We are getting married at Ocean Coral and Turquesa March 27, 2012.  We really want to do loot bags.  Has anyone put towels in their bags?  Any deals around Calgary area?  We are four months away and I'm starting to get a list of what I want in the bags for our guests :)

We are doing one per couple, one per single, one per kid. I;ll be making 40-45. I think it depends on how many you need to make, because if you are doubling up on EVERYTHING it can be quite costly. I budgeted $1000 for the bags, and should come in just under budget (I'm almost done! Just need  afew more things for the kids). For the rooms where there are singles, we are only giving one of them a deck of cards. Pashminas are just going to the girls and sunglasses just to the boys. I think your best approach is to come up with a budget and work out your bag "must-haves", then go from there. You can easily get out of control with these things :)

I loved the Ocean Turquesa when I was there a few years ago.  I wouldn't bother with the towels since your guests will be able to get them from the resort and they will take up so much space and weight.

How much did it cost to engrave the Bubba?  This may be a nice idea for our parents and bridal parties mugs to separate them from the rest of the guests!

I bought mine for $1.97 at Walmart and Target in the US so they are really no cheaper! Snag the dollarama ones while you can, they charge $4 or so everywhere else in Canada!

I am looking for little tube bottles of either Advil or Tylenol. I found them at Dollarama for $2, but I was wondering if anyone found them for cheaper in the states at either Walmart or an American drugstore? I'll be heading across the boarder just before x-mas when I go home to visit my parents, so if I can get them cheaper in the states I will wait, if not I'll just buy them now!

Thanks :)

1 Per couple and 1 for Every single person as well.  Single Men will be getting a different bag style (If I can find them) than the rest of the couples and single women as I dont see a man carrying the "beach bag" style we have!  We are also doing 2 "special" kids bags for FIs 2 young cousins who are coming!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
