I feel awful having recommended her early on in our planning process.  She was AMAZING in the beginning but it seems like now that we are "locked in" she could careless about keeping us informed or treating us well at all!

I think I am going to call ACV directly and get the info I need, I wish we could fire her but that is not an option msncry.gif

Every TA has a supervisor!! I would talk to them and let them know you have have brought a TON of business to them.. and you would appreciate the customer service you deserve. You could have chosen so many other places to go to, however you chose their agency. They should treat you better... I would totally go to their supervisor or manager. :)

Good Luck!! and you will get that upgrade!! :)

Wooohoo!!!!! Yeah every bride will get access to the closet at the front of the plane to put your dress in which is soo nice cause then you dont have to worry about it getting crinkled or dirty etc..

:) I am so glad I decided to say something.. as it seems to be beneficial and i hope it helps the rest of the ACV brides!!!!! :) yay to executive class!!! :) ( which is 299.00 plus tax per person normally)

Alright Canadian Brides hijacking this thread to discuss upgrades on ACV..

I only found four 10 ct travel packs of Advil's out of the two dollarama's I searched at undecided.gif

Hopefully they'll be getting more in though! The dollarama that had no little first aid kits before has a ton of them now, and I bought my full sheet label papers today, hopefully I can get some DIY'ing done since I have a few days off coming to me (Thursday to Tuesday)!

And now back to the hijacking.. as far as the ACV thing.. how far in advance did you guys book anyway? My TA is an independant TA as far as I know, she works out of her house and she advised us not to look for airfare for April 2012 this far in advance. I told her I heard of other brides using Air Canada Vacations and getting an upgrade and she doesn't know anything about it. She was dilly dallying about phoning the hotel we're going to be staying at the night before the cruise so I called today and asked for a group rate myself and got it. I read in a bridal book somewhere to never mention that you're booking a "wedding" group until you have to, if you just call and book a block of rooms for a family, they'll probably be cheaper then a 'wedding' booking or whatever. So yeah, I booked it. I think she was a little put off but the hotels in the area are booking up fast, she was even surprised at the number of hotels with no availability. Anyway. She says ACV will likely be my most expensive option. It's a flight from Halifax to Orlando, FL so it shouldn't be too bad. Idk. She says to wait and see anyway...

How much do you like and or trust your TA? When I booked ACV, we could only secure 29 seats on a plane because that was all that was left for the day we wanted. I've talked to six different TAs in my research and not one suggested I wait. I wish I was a TA!!! I feel like we have all been getting varying info, booking the hotel/group rates has been the most stressful part so far!! I've also heard of other incentives like free room upgrades, cocktail hour, etc... Again varying from bride to bride. I have no idea how this works or what can be negotiated! Ok, sorry to hijack the thread!!!

Hi,

So you need to be in executive class to get access to this closet then? My travel agent is great but not back from holidays until next week. I emailed her requesting her to look into the possibility of an upgrade. We couldn't book as a group with ACV as family outside of the country is flying with diff. airlines and others chose to use air miles...but we still have 5-6 of us in booking.

I called ACV and spoke to a woman who didn't seem to know much as she put me on hold twice...I was told that I didn't qualify for an upgrade or access to the closet as I did not have a group booking...she told me that if I tried to get an upgrade via Air Canada they wouldn't do it for free as they are a separate company...seriously......my FI thinks it is bullochs...lol...from Scotland.

Any suggestions...I don't believe what this girl said, I think we can try with someone else...I am hoping my travel agent with have some tips. Even if we don't get upgraded, which would be nice...I want access to that closet.

Luvmoo, what did you say to get it? ;)

Yeah i have been looking ( have gone to 4 dollaramas thus far) and have only found 15 bottles of advil.. so i am still on the search to buy the rest of them... So i have only half so far! i hope they stock them up too!! it will be tragic if they don't!! lol

As for the booking.. i was engaged on St. Paddy's day, and i Booked in April. for a wedding date of February... so 10 months in advance... You want to book with as much time as possible.. as you are trying to get availability for a whole group... a block of rooms etc... resorts fill up! you want to make sure there is enough room for all of your guests... and the longer you wait, for a group booking, the higher the price gets! I know we are still just over 6 months away from the wedding and the package prices have already gone up a couple hundred dollars.

As for ACV being the most expensive... i think it depends on where you are flying from etc.. however i Went to 4 different TA's and i also tried westjet Vacations, Sunquest Vacations, ACV, and one other one.. ( i cant remember what it was called right this moment) but ACV came out to being the cheapest.. and that was on quotes from flying out of Calgary, and toronto. I have guests flying out of Kelowna, Grande Prairie, Kamloops.. and ACV even threw in the free connecting flight for them to meet us in Calgary ( they just had to pay the taxes, but got the connecting flight for free) ACV has been awesome!!! I don't know if thats because we booked in plenty of advance, or if we just have a good TA.. i dunno...

Hope that helps! :)

Hmmm yeah i would ask around for sure... maybe even quote some sites where you saw that upgrade... ( i quoted some on the previous posts..) as for what i said.. i actually didn't say anything.. my TA just told me about the closet and the free upgrade.. i didn't even ask! Even if you do ride regular class i am sure they will have no problems storing your dress in the closet! :)

Hey Girls,

So I REALLY dont want to offend anyone, but I keep getting emails about the thread updates, and its kind of filling up my inbox.  Since the ACV conversation seems to be a pretty hot topic, do you think we could start another thread for it? It seems to be a populat topic, and if it had its own thread, maybe more brides would notice it, and it may be of help to them too, but If they are not looking for canadian OOT bags, they will not be able to see this very helpful informatoin! I know if I had booked with ACV and there was this great promotion going on about the extra baggage, I would be thrilled if someone shared with me cheesy.gif.  I am extremely jealous of your great upgrade!!! I get two bags, im not sure of how much weight each, but I could really use a third as well!!! Congrats.  Again, sorry if this offends anyone, im not trying to be rude, just helpful to those other brides that may want to see it (and my inbox- hehe)

Anyways focus.gif,  I just wanted to let everyone know, I bought those cheap bags from Oriental express, and the quality is decent, but beware of iron on tranfers, The bag melts and well, the iron on doesnt take too well.  I wasnt putting my monogram, only a palmtree and "Trelawny, Jamaica".  Needless to say, I scratched that idea. Has anyone else found affordable bags that can take these transfers?? I REALLY loved the look of the 1 of 5 bags I tried that turned out....

Shoot! I was going to do my iron-on transfers this weekend... I have 5 dozen of those bags and I can't send them back now. Maybe I will go the tag route instead. Are you going to buy all new bags now? Maybe it was the type of iron-on transfer paper? I know some other girls also bought those bags and I'm almost positive they used iron-on transfers. You can check out the thread on the bags and throw a question out there?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
