CANADIAN OOT BAG info...where to shop!

Recommended Posts

I bought cardstock at Michaels....it is in the scrapbook section. I am using them as placemats for the all white tables provided....cheap and easy....and colourful! As a matter of fact if you keep an eye on them, you'll get four sheets for $1.00----when that sale comes around again.

Michaels had a sale of the packages of card stock, you get 4 or 5 colours and they were 3.99 for I think 80 or 100 sheets for $3.99.  It's great if they have your colours in a multi pack, they have a great aqua, blue and green pack.  Also remember never to go to michaels without a coupon!!!!! You can print them from their website and it is DEFINITELY worth doing!!!!

Has anyone found any beach towels?? I am looking for something reasonably priced.... well... I admit, I am being unreasonable by wanting to spend like 2.00 a towel ahahaha, but seriously, has anyone ffound something 5.00 or below?? either online or at a store... I saw old navy had them on for 3.00 each, but we didnt have enough room to pack 65 of them

Walmart had stripped towels for $5.00 they came turquoise and white, lime green and white, pink and white and a few other combos I think.  Not sure if they still do but it would be worth checking out.

Not to discourage you from doing towels, I don't know your resort or anything but most provide towels there and a beach towel can get pretty stinky and musty after a week.  I still think it is a great idea and I know some people prefer their own, just though you could have a few $$ if you hadn't thought of this.

On a more positive note (I promise I am not trying to be negative!!!!) I would totally check out walmart because the ones I saw were actually quite nice!!!!!

I totally agree with you about all of that, the ONLY reason why I was going to even consider it, is because I got my tote bags today, and it looks like I have nothing in them lol.... So I was thinking, hmm what can I get to put in them that will take up a ton of space to make them seem more full??

Do you have any ideas?? Id love some advice.

HAHA so funny you should say that! I posted my OOT bag thread but never actually put the items in the bag.  I am going to visit my mom tomorrow and she asked that I bring one to show her so I put everything in tonight and I am finding the SAME thing!!!!!!  I am already pretty up there with my OOT bag price so I really dont want to add a lot more.

I have:

- 2 mugs

- 1 wedding week survival kit (ziploc sandwich bag full of stuff with bag topper)

- 1 note pad, pen, sewing kit

- 1 shell soap

They just arent as full as I anticipated them being.  I am thinking of adding a wordsearch/crosswork/sudoku book and some playing cards to each bag.  I don't think it has to be full full full but I also don't want it to look like we skimped out when we definitely didn't!!!!!! I know exactly what you mean but the towels filling them out!!!! Another option may be the vista print t-shirts or hats.... though I know most of my guests wouldn't use them.... pashminas.... hmmm I will keep you posted as I get ideas!!!!!

Oh I totally forgot I also have 2 face cloths in my bag that I rolled and tired with rafia.... I read a few reviews that there weren't face cloths (now I can't even remember if it was my resort lol) so I got a face cloth for each person, this filled it up a bit and they only cost $0.44 each!!!!

This is going to sound crazy.. but if you're a) super dedicated B) are planning a trip to the US anyway and c) have the TIME (you'll have to wait until November) There are always CRAZY good towel sales on during Black Friday.. lol. We usually stock up on big bath towels for like $2 a towel, Walmart, JC Penney, Sears, everyone always has fab colored towels and bath sheets on sale, make good Christmas gifts and I saved a couple for myself one year and love them, still using them...

I mean, great price.. but a lot of hassle... but Black Friday is a must-do for us every year.. it's the best shopping experience :D

Don't they just seem so... bare?? lol, I have a survival kit, some hand sanitizer out side of the survival kit, first aid kits, tissues, a tour guide, all of my welcome information and itineraries etc... a shot glass, and it just seems so bare, the kids ones are better because I got them snorkle gear from dollarama and water guns and beach balls.. I was thinking of getting beach balls for the guests too because they come in packs of 2 at the dollar store and I can just seperate the two... so .50 each.... I definately like your face cloth idea, but ours comes with them... Pashmina's are ok, but I cant see any of my friends using them and I cant find them for less than 5, maybe ive just given up on the extent of searching I am willing to do for items lol, especially now that my wallet has swelled up and I have pretty much met my budget... lol

I forgot about my first aid kit, that is outside of my survival kit too!!!  I just have to keep telling myself, my guests don't even know what an OOT bag is and I think they will be pleased to get whatever is inside!!!!!!!!  I like the beach ball idea though, I mentioned it to FI and he said that would be fun.  Another option would be inexpensive float rafts, I know we have a lazy river type pool and I always love to lay on something in the pool.  I believe we got them at Walmart for like $3 last year but I think dollarama may have some too right now, that would definitely fill them up!

I am worried about weight at this point.  We only are allowed 1 suitcase each (thought it was 2) so I really don't want to add anything that weighs a ton!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
