CANADIAN OOT BAG info...where to shop!

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to find that out too... I am set on travel mugs but have a hard time knowing how much of the total cost is shipping and duty when purchasing from a US website. Although discountmugs.com is still a great price, I'm trying to see if there is anywhere canadian that would be comprable.

Cheers

I used discountmugs.com and I am pretty happy so far (i'll reserve total judgement until i get them!). I paid $130 canadian for 35 mugs (no print, but that would have been 45 extra) including shipping and taxes, i'll let you know if I get dinged with duty.

By the way - I don't know if you've been to the royal decameron in Panama yet or not, but my fiance and I went 4 years ago and it was absolutely amazing....I have pics if you want to see them.

Happy planning!

robbiemoe-

If I go discountmugs.com I'll probably do what you're doing and get them shipped not printed. You can get someone here in ON to do it cheaper I'm sure. But, please do keep me posted on how you make out with them!

We have never been to Panama, decided on it as it was "different' from what our group had done before, and from what i hear fairly warm (even in Jan)!

It's so reassuring to hear other travellers that have gone and enjoyed it.

Any tips on things to bring? that they don't have or have little of? Or even things that the hotel staff would like or are in need of (i.e. to give to maids/gardners etc..?)

Thanks!!

Cheers

Jen

I just ordered my mugs from Discount Mugs on the weekend - I ordered 32, there was a 10% off coupon so in total I paid $111 taxes and shipping included - I'm so excited, I ordered them blank and then I'm ordering the window decals from Vistaprint in transparent for the labels (got the idea from another gal on here, if anyone wants the thread she posted let me know and i'm sure I can find it!)

Just wondering what the customs charges should be, but I'm figuring no more than $15 - $20.....I'll let you all know!

Anyone thinking about ordering should sign up for the email so you can get the deals, the sales usually only last 2 or 3 days!

Hey ladies,

As luck would have it....I got the UPS notice for my mugs today (I missed the delivery so i cant tell you how the mugs look) but the customs charges are $54!!!! I don't know how they figure 54 bucks on a $130 bill but not much I can do now...

Jen - I found in Panama that they have access to a lot (unlike, say Cuba) so money was most appreciated. When we went in May it was unbelievably hot (almost uncomfortably so) and the sun was verrrry strong. I imagine in January it will be gorgeous - nice and hot, but not ridiculously so. A couple tips for you - be prepared to wait at the Panama airport on your way home, when we went 4 years ago they didnt have computers at check-in so it took a long time (that said, we had such a great time I would do it again in a heartbeat). Also, try to keep a good eye on your bags, the resort took ours on a seperate bus and they arrived before us and were left outside the airport (never a good thing). If you have time, go on the rainforest trip - it was an experience of a lifetime. Overall, it is the nicest resort I've ever been to, the food was great, the room was lovely, and it is a great alternative to the islands. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions!

Wholly CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!
$54 does sound like an awful lot of $$'s, I wouldn't have expected that at all, I checked the customs website and thought they are only supposed to charge provincial tax plus an $8 processing fee...looks like I'll have to double check the website!!!
I bet the mugs are awesome though!! can't wait to hear!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
