Have you done your taxes yet?!

My DH is getting our taxes done today and I'm mad I can't be there (I didn't get the day off). I was hoping to be there since it's our first time filing together. I'm super nervous we are going to owe $$ (my stomach is literally turning right now). As soon as we got married, we met with our accountant and she warned us we may end up having to owe because we climbed to a higher tax bracket, so I'm really hoping she was wrong msncry.gif

So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed because the last thing we need right now is to owe thousands of $$.....

What about everyone else? Are most of you waiting until the deadline to file?

We won't have to file jointly until next year, but I am nervous myself. I spoke to the accountant this year - we bought a house this year in both our names but are still single, so I didn't want to deal with the taxes - and he highly suggested we come back in September of this year and he can do a prelimiary estimate. If it looks like we will owe, we can pre-pay some of it to avoid additional penalties and so we do not owe as much when we actually file.

We are in the middle of doing ours - turbo-tax style. It calculates the return as you go, and last year we got married, sold our house, bought a new house, moved blah blah blah.....so it is taking awhile to get all the ppwk together. But so far it shows us having a refund so I hope we do get one! FINGERS CROSSED!!

Haha! so funny this thread was started today...I was going to do the same!

Actually I don't know why I waited this long to do my taxes! I did them last night and was able to cash in on the first time home buyers credit! smile72.gif

Woot! Woot! that will pay for the honeymoon hotel!

I am using turbo tax too (and have been for the past couple of years)
Every year I have this bad habit of saying to myself "oh yeah i donated this or bought that" all just to see how much of an effect it would make on that little automatic calculator!

Last night we were doing mine and I was jumping up and down because of the number it was showing...then FI tells me "um honey the red number means you owe..." censored.gif

I was able to get it back to the green though when I started entering my real info!

My BFF is an accountant. I took my stuff to her on Tues I believe. Its the first time she's doing my taxes (as I was very unhappy with the last guy I had). I really dont care how much I'm getting back I was just worried ab owing bc my parttime job but me in a different tax bracket last year and my accountant told me to cut back on my hr in which I didn't do. So as my friend was looking over my w2 and donation info she said that i sholdn't owe. But she's not done yet soo... She said she'd be happy to see us file jointly next year as it'll really be beneficial to me.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
