I had a one of my bridesmaids ask me something this morning that I hadn't considered. She wanted to know if I was sending std's (I just crack up even typing that the way it sounds) to everyone in the wedding party, even though I've sent/given them "Will you be my.." cards. I just assumed I would/should. I hadn't thought about not sending them to everyone, but the way she put it made me sort of second guess the expense. It's not a LOT of money by any means, but still..we have a fairly large wedding party so it could end up being $50-60 saved. In my world, that can buy other stuff, so I may be biased. lol

Anyway, I KNOW I'm sending formal invites to the wedding party. I just can't see not doing that. But...did you send std's to your wedding party? This may be a stupid question, I dunno. She just made me question it.

I did send them to the bridal party also. That is a decent amount of money you can save (and I'm sure put toward other things for the wedding :)), but I thought our parents and our bridal party would probably appreciate them the most and save them.. Ours were magnets and my bridesmaids (and our parents) seemed really excited to have them to put on their fridge.

So, it's up to you - you can ask if they want them or not?

We sent STD's to everyone, including our ginormous wedding party -- we even sent them to our parents who wanted to keep them as momentos. But we also made our own STD's so churning out some extra ones was not a big task or costly for us.

If you don't wanna spend the extra $$$, which is a significant difference, how about sending "cheaper" more simple versions? Or, if you find it appropriate, how about an STD email or e-card?

We are going to send out STD's and invites to both our bridal party and even ppl we know are definitely not coming (for personal or monetary reasons). I feel like your bridal party is actually the ppl who care about getting them, they are probably some of the closest ppl to you... we just don't want ppl to be left out! So we are doing DIY STD's and invites to save money... yikes!

Savannah, those kids of yours are gorgeous!!! Anyway, we're also sending STD's to everyone we're planning on inviting. I agree w/ those above who said that if you're worried about the extra cost maybe think about making them yourselves or even doing an email version. Maybe check out Evites, you can design your own or pick from their designs - their e-invites are nice because they send email reminders as the date gets closer.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sounds a little funny to me too but I just learned that maybe you should; two of my bridesmaids asked me about them and I didn't really think of it. Then one finally confessed that another bride to be (surprise!) decided to "throw" a wedding in 4 months....with my bridal party. I sent them out to appease eveyone but I still thought it was a little weird!! =)

"Throw" a wedding? Like she's having her wedding with your bridal party in four months but not inviting you? I'm confused.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
