Hi Lisa,

I am looking into getting married at the Riu Palace and asked the question on this forum about bringing an outside photographer. Many girls responded yes you can, and it has been done, and then I even found it on the Riu website!!!!!

Here is the thread: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t36266

I am sure the same rules would apply at the Santa Fe. I need to know this for sure because I am also bringing my photograher and I am not changing that!

OMG.

So I got her response:

Dear Lisa,

Unfortunately they doesn't allow external supplier for this year.

1 freaking sentence!!! um, hellohuh.gif anyone homehuh.gif

So I sent her this back:

Erika,

Nevertheless, you need to honour what you had told us before, correct? You knew that our wedding date was in 2009 and you clearly stated in the previous email that photographers/videographers (he is from Cabo by the way and has shot weddings there before) were allowed at the resort provided they were purchased day passes. After you had told us yes, we put down a non-refundable deposit to the photographer and so it seems we have a major problem here. How is this going to be worked out? After I send this email I am also going to forward you the original emails we exchanged regarding this topic.

Damn this wedding stress.

ugh im sorry lisa -- keep us posted, we'll see what she says once she's confronted with the money aspect. have you tried calling her? a direct phone conversation (with your angered voice, lol) might work best if she's giving you a lack of receptiveness in her emails.

keeping my finger crossed for you hug2.gif -- definitely a pain in the ass when people try to go back on their word, certainly wedding stress you don't need!!!

I called. She is non-sympathetic and bascially said that rules are rules. She didn't apologize once and seems intent on not budging. I have NEVER seen this side of her before and frankly it's making me cry wondering what else is going to get screwed up. I didn't give in though and told her that she has put us into a very uncomfortable situation and she said that she will speak with her manager but that she can not make any promises. She said that he is out of town until March 7 and then she will contact me after that. She also said that the rules were changed because one bride refused to pay the day pass and so that was the end of it. I'm soooooo upset and stresed right now and I didn't feel listened to at all (not to mention the fact that she kept interrupting me and when I asked her "can you understand why we're upset?" she didn't even answer me). I'm thinking that I should email the general manager myself to make sure that he gets the message from my mouth, you know? ugh. What the eff do I dohuh.gif

I think you should just email the general manager! WTF!! I can't believe she is being so uncompassionate! SO basically one bride ruins it for everyone?? What if you just pay the day pass and bring your photog with you? I mean can he pass for a guest?? Or is that illegal?? HOW FRUSTRATING for you!

Crap, what a b*tch. censored.gif

Ok so yes, definitely send an email and also call the manager -- I would even send him copies of your correspondence highlighting what she previously said was ok. Let them know the monetary consequences and that they will be responsible for any fees toward your photographer that are non-refundable. Be stern and strong about this.

If the day pass fee is what they're concerned about -- tell em you'll forward payment early to ensure this is not a problem. Be clear to them that you were given the green light, prompting you to book an outside photographer.

Sorry hon -- keep us posted. I'm hoping this all works out for you! hug2.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
