I will be down in Mexico next month shooting a wedding and will be doing a TTD. This time around I really want to head to a cenote for the pics and the B&G love the idea.

I am really leaning towards Gran Cenote. Have any brides been there in the past few months to do their TTD? I just want to make sure they won't ding us for any extra fees for doing a shoot in there above regular admission.

I just had my cenote photos shot at Hidden worlds.

Dreamtime Images Blog Archive Tulum, Mexico Wedding Photography: Malisa and Todd

We looked at Gran Cenote but it was very very crowded, and the caves were not shallow enough to stand in.

Labna Ha is also very pretty but they charge a tripod fee (we didn't use one). When I thought we were going to use one they originally asked for $500. I talked them down to $150 including admission and snorkeling.

Hidden worlds was $10/person and I'm pretty sure they shut the cenote down for us.

Thanks for the info. I rarely use a tripod for anything I do so I will make sure not to bring one just in case.

I thought there was a section in gran that you could walk around in though? I found a couple pics online.

Here shows a couple at the side of one of the cavern areas. Which looks to be right beside this image. Water is deceiving when judging depths. Does anyone know if you can walk in through here?

Yes, that section you can stand in. I had discounted that side of the cenote because it's not very tall or deep. You can hunch down and walk through the tunnel in about 10 steps. It's also not very pretty. You don't have any stalactites or greenery. The section of Gran Cenote that is available to non-divers is shaped like a C and about 35 meters wide and 10 meters wide. 4/5 of the cenote is deep enough that you need to swim and is only light enough to see about 10 meters in. The other part is the tunnel your picture was taken in. You walk through the tunnel to a dry hole. Add 75 tourists and you might have a difficult time taking pictures.

Thanks again for the great info, I have a lot to think about. What day did you go? I herd the weekends are really busy compared to the weekdays (planning for a wed). I wish I was down there earlier so I could scout them out but I am flying in the day before the TTD so I need to make plans now.

jon, search gran cenote and ttd and you will see this subject has been discussed extensively. i know you want some current fee dinging info, but you might get more basic cenote info that way as well.

Thanks Abbie but I have already poured through well over 100 posts about gran cenote on here before posting the question. I couldn't find the information I wanted in them so I made a new thread. Malisa has helped with more information in 2 replies then all the other posts I have read combined.

you didnt specify that you had already gone that route so i just wanted to make sure you knew about it.

and yes like i said i realize you were looking for specific info but that searching might help you find even more basic cenote info. if you had mentioned that you already read thru hundreds of posts in your original thread opener, then i wouldnt have bothered posting.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
