Hi Madison87!!

Thank you for posting your questions To the Grand.  I just sent them a similar email tonight (before I read your post) in regards to some questions on the details of pricing.  My fiance and I were looking at renting the Port Maria for our reception (30 guests), and I was alarmed that our paperwork said the $3000 did not include open bar, especially since all our guests are staying at the Grand!!  I'm really looking forward to seeing your updated price list, as we are definitely going to reconsider the private reception if it does not include the alcohol.  I'm also surprised to see that the "a la carte" menu is only $70 per person with no rental fee (minimum 30 guests I'm assuming), I'm wandering if alcohol is included in this or if it's an extra fee.

I just showed my fiance your post, and we both found it funny that in response to your question about extending the rental till 11PM, she told you there was a cash charge for the staff, it sounds just a little sketchy.

Overall, we are planning our wedding for November 2013, but we haven't found the correspondence with the resort very professional.  It's a pretty penny to stay there, therefore you have an expectation of service.  I have to say, we absolutely LOVE the resort (stayed in May 2011), but I don't feel a sense of ease with the organization.

Is it possible to PM me your Wedding Details attachment?  I don't have enough posts on the forum yet, therefore don't have access.

Thanks so much!!!

Sarah

Sarah if you don't mind me asking what are your rates running. I just want an estimate even though I know it won't be the same in 2014. I just want to know what ball figure my guests may be looking around. My paperwork says premium bar is included with the private reception and when i asked Janielle she said both included the alcohol. It is so weird because at all of the Iberostar Jamaica resorts there are mixed issues when it comes to the WC. I noticed that when I get a response it is very short maybe like two words are so but it covers what I need it to cover and if not I re email her the question again and reiterate what I asked her.

I chalked up Janielles short/ blunt responses my questions to the laid-back Jamaician culture. Since many of the answers were vague, to settle my nerves, I added an international rate plan to my cellphone and called her a few times two to three week intervals the last two months before the wedding. Each time with a well prepared list of questions, including my what ifs. This helped so much more than the emailing. She was available 97% of the times I called.....FYI

Janielle gets much better as you get closer to the wedding. Her and her partner work non stop, her job is crazy. But she will have everything under control for you when you get there! No worries mon!!

Hello Ladies,

Forgive me if this has been answered (still trying to get through most of the thread), but what made most of you decide to have your wedding at Iberostar Grand?  I think I'm overwhelmed with the many choices for location in Jamaica, so maybe your answers will help.  Thank you cheesy.gif

They only host one wedding a day (unlike Sandals which has weddings every 45 minutes), this allows them to focus on you and you only. The resort is adult only and it's 5 star (butler service, premium liquor, room service).

Hey past grand brides!!

Can any of you post a picture of your cake? Did you use the generic cake with the package or did you pay more for a specialty cake? thanks!!!

I chose the basic cake that came with the package, cheesecake to be exact, just b/c it was different. In all of my planning, I never considered cake details. Everything was so perfect on my wedding day I didn't even pay attention to the cake, we had been drinking and partying it up! It wasn't until I returned home and saw pictures of the cake did I realize it was ugly, actually hideous. Although it was not easy on the eyes, it tasted good.

    • I’m getting married next May at the Azul Sensatori  in Cancun, I believe they have a hotel specific DJ. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on that versus spending money for an outside vendor and if so any recommendations on a good DJ in that area? Thanks for the help.
    • I admire brave brides. I'm generally afraid of a wedding. Breaking outdated rules is cool. You're good😇
    • My wedding date is set for the next April. The ceremony will be held on the beach too. I chose a dress style but not sure about the accessories like a crown and the need for a warm cape. The open back wedding dresses https://www.cathytelle.com/category/wedding-dresses/?filter_back=open&query_type_back=or  help me to choose, please! I like the third dress just with the location on the beach, like I'm dreaming about. In case of bad weather, I need to pick up a cape, so where can I find it? Only a new thing will fit, cause my grany is very superstitious (( I will be grateful for the web-addresses of jewelry shop with good reputation
    • Hello, I'm looking to have feedback about decorations for your wedding at Barcelo Maya Palace. We are getting married in Dec 2020, and I tried to get info from WC for what it's included as decoration for mint breeze or Straberry Package. It seems to be normal to pay extra for everything, but before to go further, i would like to now what basically come included?? I'm looking to know what is included for table decorations (center, if it's looking the same on when you go at a restaurant a la carte, table sheet white or colored), huppa for beach wedding (white or color), deco for chair, etc? Did you had to pay an extra to bring your own decorations? Did you pay an extra to have your reception in a beach restaurant? And what about a beach reception? Are the lights are included ?your help will be really appreciated!    Thank you
    • If you use the search function for those locations you may better be able to find something. What exactly are you looking for? Recs on photographers?
