Iberostar Grand Rose Hall

Recommended Posts

Hi Susan and Shannon! I'm not sure what I'm doing for the ceremony yet but we will do the private reception. Susan, is there an extra charge to have the reception right on the beach? I also wanted to have some sort of welcome party or mixer either on Friday or Saturday (which we may be at the Suites). And I may do a girls only catamaran booze cruise on Saturday afternoon as a bachelorette party. We are inviting 130 and expecting at least half. But right now I'm still working with a travel agent to confirm the rates & block off some rooms. I have a feeling that the majority of my guests will be at the Suites, but I'm trying to convince them to stay at the Grand! Shannon, I have spoken to a few travel agents who have reassured me that it won't be sold out for early June! I originally was going to have the wedding on the 29th but that week the rooms were 15% more & there was a high sell out risk because of the 4th of July. Susan, I've wasn't aware of the beach party! But I did a quick search on tripadvisor.com and people have commented that it's mid week (Wednesday of Thursday) but the day of week changes.

Leah & Shannon!

I can't wait! The Grand isn't going to know what hit them! It will be a blast! I'm still not sure if all my guests are staying at the Suites or the Grand which is frustrating but we are trying to figure everything out ASAP. How many people do guys think will be coming for your wedding? We had about 60 people RSVP so far. We are doing a ceremony on the beach and a private reception either at Port Maria or right on the beach. Shannon - where are you doing your welcome party at? I'm not sure if we're doing a welcome party yet but we might just do a Welcome Catamaran Cruise on Thursday also and then just a rehearsal dinner on Friday. Does anyone know for sure when the Beach Party is held at the Grand? I thought it was Sunday nights but I could be wrong.

Can't wait to meet you girls!

Susan

Hey Leah and Susan,

We have 40 people RSVP'd yes so far and still about 30 invites out that we have not heard back. I originally only wanted 20 peps lol, but it has expanded. We are having like a beach bonfire for the welcome party. I read some reviews about it and it sound like it is pretty stress free and iberostar takes care of most of the hassle. When we were there last October we went to one for a Bday at the suites and it was a good time. The beach party was I think Wednesday night.

Leah I like the idea of a booze cruise that would be fun! I was going to try to plan some group excurision for the guest who wanted to go. Susan, did you find a catamaran cruise? I know you were looking into it before.

Are you guys covering your guest passes for those guest who stay at the Suites? I am torn with this!

**I think we need our own thread, lol**

Leah - yes there is an extra charge to have it right on the beach which I think is an extra 20% over what they charge for renting out Port Maria....still deciding on this! I think I'm going to e-mail Janielle and ask her what nights the beach party is at the Grand and at the Suites because there is no sense paying for a welcome party if there already is a party the guests can go to.

Shannon - I didn't find a catamaran cruise yet because I'm still waiting to hear back from my travel agent to figure out which resort my guests are staying at. She is trying to get the day pass fee waved but it's been an adventure so far lol. If she can't get it waived, I will probably just have them stay at the Grand as originally planned.

I think we maybe should start our own thread just so we know who is doing what and at what time lol. I don't want to step on anyone's toes and I want to make sure we all have the wedding of our dreams : )

Leah - do you have facebook? Maybe it would be easier if we started a group on there?

I originally wanted 30 but then my fiancé decided he wanted to invite everyone! So now we have no idea how many people but may come, but we know that the Grand will be too steep for some. As far as day passes, we are planning to pay for passes (especially since we know some people will bring their super young kids). BUT we originally budgeted for fewer people. So we are going to wait and see how many people end up coming, where they choose to stay, and then decide. If we end up with a lot of guests at the Suites or even the Beach resort then we may pay $25 pp instead of the full $50. Susan, who is your travel agent? I spoke to a woman at VIP vacations who claimed her company was in the process of negotiating day pass waivers (they are based out of PA). But communication with her was very poor. in the end I've decided to use Beach Bum Vacations & they seem to have a good relationship with Iberostar. It would be amazing if we could get our day passes waived! I'll send you both a PM with my facebook info.

As far as the picture, that is the courtyard type room located betwen the Grand and the Suites. I think it is connected to both. It is a completed covered room with a roof and it has a lot of windows so it would be another option if it rained. I personally liked the lobby staircase as a backup in case it rained.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
