If you are paying for a  private reception, you don't need to buy guest passes for any of your events.  We did our welcome dinner at the hibachi at Beaches 2 nights before, i booked that myself one week before and had it there so everyone could attend without a problem.  we did not have to pay for guest passes at the bonfire the night before or the day of the wedding.  that was my biggest concern because half of my guests were at the suites. but with the 2012 rules, guest passes are included in private reception price.  the DJ on bonfire night was $250 an hour, we did 2 hours and he was well worth it.

Hey Ladies!

I got married at the Grand on Oct 6th... it was awesome!

I used Misha Earle for my photographer- her work is fabulous & she's a great person too!

Raschel Edwards- for my makeup- Her work in my opinion is the best & she's super sharp & sweet

Ravon Rhoden- best part of my trip was him & his band!  Even sources from the hotel said he is the best on the island.  He's super fun to work with too!!  We hired him to do the meet & greet the night before the wedding!

I hired the hotel to do my hair and they were great too!  If I could do it over I'd prbly hire Raschel and her team to do it b/c it would make my life easier & with them I wouldn't need a trial :)

There are A LOT of weddings at the Grand- out of the 8 days I was there I think there were 6 weddings.  Everything is planned pretty much a couple weeks before the wedding.  The wedding consultants are really great once you are there- as soon as I arrived they were there for me.  Rev. Gordon was great too during the ceremony- he has done over 15k weddings- he does a couple a day sometimes.  It's a fun ceremony- not a cry fest or anything which is soooo nice.

Obviously nothing really ran completely smooth- but I really didn't care when I was there.  Like the front desk told my grandmom and aunt the wrong time for the cocktail hour so they missed it- but honestly I was having so much fun dancing in my own world that I really didn't care lol.  Not enough spa appts were made- no problem mon- i really didn't care- i was in paradise.  :)

Once I walked over the the Suites I may have stayed 10 mins and walked back- then i visited the beaches and seriously found it disgusting- i'd rather stay home then go there- people were actually snorting some white powder in the lobby... it was like a mcdonalds but grosser lol.  SOOOOO highly recommend staying at the grand for sure!!!

Yes and if you have over 30people. Atleast those are the terms on paper. If you're lucky they may let you slide. But the bonfire is def a good time!!!

We're booked for Dec 2013, and just after booking the prices changed.  They appear to have slightly changed their business model, so particular items went up other went down.  It stayed fairly similar for me but it's a little troublesome how they feel free to change on a whim, who knows what it will be when it is actually time to pay.  Haven't signed anything yet.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
