Iberostar Grand Rose Hall

Eek, the staff don't seem flexible at all! There there goes my idea of trying to get some complimentary hors d'oeuvers for my cocktail hour. I leave on Saturday to the resort and will be there a week, so excited! I have everything packed and ready to go. How is the nightlife on the resort? Wondering if I should brave the onsite club or just head to Margaritaville (a touristy club I visited last time I was in Jamaica, a complimentary shuttle picked us up from the Hilton).

The total ended up being well over $1,000 for the extra hour. The $250 was just to pay the staff for their transportation. We also had to pay the open bar fee per person at $12 each and the DJ for the extra hour....we got ripped off for sure but I'd say it was worth it.

I liked the nightlife...we usually started at the Grand lobby bar or piano bar, then headed to the disco. The disco was fun and played good music. There is also a beach party at the Beach resort on Thursday and at the Suites on Saturday which is worth attending.

OMG you both paid extra for extra time? How nuts!! Ours went to 11ish (I ran back to my room to get my dress off since I was SUPER hot and we were moving to the presidental suite and when I walked in it was 1130) and we did not pay anything. The bonfire was suppose to an hour and it ended up being 3.5hrs. Wonder if since I only had 36 people they knew they were making $ off me considering I paid for the 30-50people buffet. Weird. Sorry ladies!!!

Shannon, did you pay to upgrade to the Presidential suite or did they just move you? This is the kind of BS I'm talking about. She quotes me and Susan $1,000 extra dollars for 1 hour PLUS they came and cut off my music at 10. Yet you got to party until 11:30. I paid for 100 people! With all their extra fees it came to over $10,000! Plus all the people i brought to the hotel who paid over $500 per night just to stay at the Grand. And I'm very bitter about how the day played out, their lack of organization, and lack of communication.

Yes we paid an upgrade for the presidental suite. Though we only got it for 2nights, since they were waiting for someone special during the week.

One issue I did have was, like Susan said, getting back my decorations. I bought TONS of stuff for the reception and requested it back ASAP. I ran into Janielle after our wedding multiple times and asked about it. I received our bags with our decorations in it the morning of departure (all thrown in and mangled). Some stuff was missing, but at that point I just gave up and reduced my tip. That is the one thing that left a sore taste in my mouth and after reading Susan's comments I remembered. One thing I wish I would of did the night of the wedding was go around to all the tables and pick up left behind favors (as we had custom M&Ms, Pashminas and Fans)... but I was having too much fun that was the last thing on my mind.

I feel so ripped off. $1,000 is a lot of money to dance for an extra hour and I feel robbed. I brought 51 people and we all stayed at the Grand. I think we all should have been treated the same, regardless of how many people we brought or which Iberostar resort they stayed at. The bottom line is, we all paid extra for a wedding at an ALL-INCLUSIVE resort and they should have gone above and beyond for whatever we each wanted on our wedding day. Instead, they try to nickel and dime us and steal our decorations and favors lol. If my outside wedding coordinator hadn't driven to Negril to deliver my stuff to moe, we woudn't have gotten back half of it. I really couldn't believe it.

Shannon - did you have the free wedding package and did Janielle follow up with you after the wedding?

I had to track her down (but I know she was SUPER busy that weekend). I even came down after your reception because I knew she would be there and I spotted her by the bathrooms and asked her about where my decorations were. I didnt really want to bother her much because I didnt want to take away from your wedding and Leah's wedding but I got a little worried when it was 10pm the night before we left and all of our stuff was missing. She did email me the week after the wedding to thank me and all, since we left her a card and tip at the front desk when we checked out.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
