Iberostar Grand Rose Hall

I think I already know the answer to this but I want to make sure... if you have a wedding at the Grand, kids can't come right?  Even if we have a private ceremony and a private dinner?

Right now we requested a date at the Suites (waiting to hear back) but we will be staying at the Grand (bride and groom).  We will have 3 kids at our wedding, an 8 yr old, a 10 yr old and a 15 yr old.

Yes, you can have kids at the Grand!  As long as you have a private reception.  We have 5 kids coming to our wedding (ages 2-5).  Your guests staying at the Suites or Beach resorts also do NOT have to pay for a day pass IF you have a private reception.

Really? Thank you Leah! We sent paperwork in yesterday to secure the Suites for our date but I just emailed the Grand to see if they had our date available! I didn't realize kids could go over there at all! We would definitely pay extra to have the reception private if it means we can do it. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and I like the ceremony locations more than the Suites. And that's awesome you don't have to pay extra - I've wanted a private reception regardless so it'll work out perfectly. We had planned to stay at the Grand anyways, even though we were going to get married at the Suites. My FI is in love with the balconies/swings. It'll probably just be forever until I hear back hahah.

Just make sure you look at all the fees.  A private reception at the Grand is a lot more expensive than at the Suites.  Plus they charge more for standard items, like musicians, dj, beach bonfire, dance club rental, cocktail hours, etc.

Good luck!

Has anyone been having issues communicating with the WC at the grand?! She has been being really vauge with my travel agent and I. She 'confimed' my date with an email that said "your date is confirmed" and didnt send me any contract or anything like that. I am very nervous.

Kristen,

Congrats on picking your date! We are strongly considering the Rose on March 23, 2013. Is that your date by any chance lol?? I tried to call today about details but of course the wedding coordinator is not in until Monday. Do you happen to have any recent emails from them or any type of info at all. I have been trying to figure out the location since we go engage in Jamaica in March and are so beyond stressed out!!

Thanks,

Laura

Vague is her middle name. They don't actually give you a contract. She should provide you with a wedding agreement which lists all their policies, but I guarantee the rates and policies will change before 2013 (the 2012 rates increased after I had a date confirmed and my invitations were mailed out). And she doesn't officially request any of your wedding info until about 2 months before the wedding. It can be difficult to get information. My travel agent had to contact the hotel manager to get responses.

I have had recent contact with the WC. Its usually takes her a couple of days to respond, her communication style is very cryptic and she usually responds late in the day (even on Fridays and it kills me to have to wait the weekend).  I always email her, assuming that will be the most effective way of communicating however, I find that some the responses to the questions I ask are unclear.  She just so happen to send me an email late this past Friday ( approximately 7:30pm), and I immediately called her, I think catching her off guard. Even the verbal conversations were cryptic, lol. She just responded with "ok", when I needed an actual yes or no. My questions about seating and the private reception were clarified, so I'm good for now.

Note: be veryyyyyyy specific when asking questions

Ok while I'm not feeling totally 100% about her at this point I do feel better that its not just a personal issue with me and my travel agent! I do feel better that you ladies are having the same issue (not really but you know what i mean LOL) I have an appointment to meet with her May 16 when we go down there so I am hoping to get things solidified then, my wedding is over a year away so i know I have ALOT of time, but I've just been having alot of issues with her ( for example my date was confirmed and then a week later she said that she made a mistake and someone already had that day and I would have to change mine- then I sent her the paperwork and she kept saying she didnt get it, and then finally she said she got it and her idea of a confirmation was "you are confirmed for June 21, 2013" and that was it) I just don't want to get screwed over!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
