Iberostar Grand Rose Hall

Recommended Posts

I can't believe some of you got such good rates... for only 4 nights some of my party who signed up later are paying a little over $1000 per person.  I need to talk to her about getting cheaper nights!!  I am now looking at having my ceremony at great house, the aquaduct, or one of the half moon venues because of all the extra costs at Iberostar and almost everything included in the package won't even apply to our group since it's more than 10.  It seems like they only cater to small weddings.  I am having to pay for $2600 for rehearsal dinner and extra per person for everything else.  She wont even take off of package because I won't be able to use a lot of the inclusions.  Also, I saw a ceremony while I was there on my site visit and was very disappointed with how many onlookers to the wedding there were. People were yelling up at their friends on the beach and walking behind the ceremony in their bathing suits with a drink in their hand.  If you want on the beach; they don't really have a spot that is private and outside....

I am also irritated at how the Iberostar is not being flexible at all with requests I'm asking for.  I am getting married in 2 months and starting to get frustrated with the flat out "no" I am getting for some of my requests and I have 25+ rooms booked and paid for as well as the Presidential Suite for 3 nights!  I emailed her about getting a free cocktail house and welcome party (which I think it's so silly how expensive it is anyway since guests have paid for alcohol already in the inclusive package) I think it should just be a set up and maybe small service fee for those type of things... Half Moon sent me a quote and their price sheets are so organized and they get back to me very quickly.  Thinking about using one of their venues if it is around the same price.  Maybe I am just getting nervous since it's getting so close and nothing seems to be organized and my their philosophy is definitely not whatever the bride wants to please her.  Am I crazy to be this irritated with Janelle and Angellie?  Don't know what to do!

This just seems really high to me, especially since we are booking way far in advance. I know the rate is going to drop at some point and my TA said she could renegotiate but I am just nervous. I don't want my guests paying that much!

I agree with your frustrations as well ......I am trying to get the free wedding package and Jinealle? Wedding Coordinator at the Grand, has been giving me nothing but grief! When she does reply back its not professional! It takes a week for her to even respond to my questions, thats frustrating in itself! They want you to pay for a package that includes a wedding coordinator, but the responses back via email take almost 2 weeks for any kind of answers, then you get your reply back and its 4 words long not answering everything from your first email.......ugggh This resort is a rip off! You have to pay pay pay for everything over and beyond, not to mention your paying out your ass to stay at an ALL INCLUSIVE so that you wouldn't have to pay for all these things.....

I'm also trying to get in contact with the Flower Coordinator from Tai Flower, Jodi-Ann.....it has taken them over 5 weeks to respond with quotes and pictures to me....and I still can't open up there attachments......

Iberostar Grand may be a beautiful place to stay and get married, but I would never ever refer them to anyone as far as getting married there! My sister got married at the Riu in Ochos Rios Jamaica over 3 years ago and they didn't experience anything closed to what I am going through with the Grand......

I hope everything works out for you with booking with a different venue, keep me updated on what you decide to do!!

April,

My family pretty much told me that I needed to keep it at Iberostar.  Janelle emailed me back and said no to the free wedding so we are going to try and cancel and re-book.  It has been SO frustrating and my family keeps telling me to let it go; and just let it all fall into place.  But since I went to the resort and saw things I wasn't happy with and will be paying out of the ass for, I want their customer service to improve and them to work with me!  Are you still going to have your there??  The reception location just does not have the elegance I am wanting and it will be very expensive to rent everything from Tai Flora when already paying for so much of the basics at Iberostar.  When I went to visit, they told me a flat out "no" when I asked them to accommodate.  My mom seems to think that when the travel agency all of our 60+ guests have booked with releases the payment for the rooms, her attitude will change.  But it is just so rediculous to work with coordinators who do not get back to you.  I have spoken with the Great House coordinator, Ritz, and Half Moon and all have gotten back to me in a couple days.  It's been over a week since I heard from Janelle.  I really did love the Iberostar for a place for all of my guests to stay; but do not feel easy about have my ceremony/reception there....  Keep me updated with your plans!  When are you getting married?  I am in 2 months!! Time is running out!

Hi Lezlie,

I am getting married July 1, 2012 at the Suites and groom and I will be at the Grand. Yes, everything is expensive for the extras. I am working with an outside florist name Godfrey Guy in Montego bay. His email is GodfreyGuy1@yahoo.com 876.509.2952. He is very reasonable and some brides on here have used him. You can tell him I referred you. I will have him do my huppa, centerpieces, my bouquet and the corsages for the moms. The outside photographer I am using is Marcia Roberts 876.280.9636 www.jamaicanphotography.com.

Good Luck!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
