Forum Robots - Rant

I love these forums, I think it is a great tool for brides planning their destination wedding. When my cousin planned her destination wedding in Mexico I know she would have found this really helpful and it's too bad she didn't know about it.

The one thing I have noticed and that kind of bugs me, as well as others I am sure are the robotic responses in the Newbies section.

I guess the bigger question is are the cut and paste welcome responses helpful? I say this because it seems like so many newbies first posts aren't even read. There are 2 response possibilities (new bride greeting or new vendor greeting). Personally I like to add a little personalization into greetings. I understand that vendors (like myself) want their signature to appear everywhere as it is our method of advertising, but at what cost?

I am not trying to direct this at one person as there are a few, and I am not trying to rub anyone the wrong way. I just think some personalization in any posting makes for a better place.

<end rant>

I was going to post this in the forum suggestion area at first until I read it through and found no suggestions. It turned out to be just a rant.

See those don't bother me, only because I can still remember being new to the forum at one time, and how I just wanted to get to know some people and tell everyone how excited I was about getting married.

I actually agree. I feel bad even posting my personalized responses because of my signature, however I hope people look at my stats and realize that I was first a destination bride and only recently became a "vendor." I honestly respond to posts with the intention of making people feel welcomed (like how I felt 2 years ago when I first started) or to answer questions. I think that's the way it should be.

I honestly think welcoming newbies is important in this forum but the way certain people post the same thing each time to each newbie annoys the crap out of me. Try to be original and sincere people instead of being so automated.

Bianca you should also take a look at http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t21771 if you don't care for seeing all the newbie threads. It's a super helpful tip.

Its not that big of a deal... Its just when 1 person goes in and greets 20 newbies back to back its a bit overwelming.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
