FI's attitude is sucky

I think this is my new favorite forum. My latest frustration is my fiance who hates to talk about the wedding. We are high school sweethearts and have been dating for 7 1/2 years. He proposed the day we closed on a house that we bought together. (Talk about commit-ment-phobe! We have a house together and he was still hesitant about proposing!)

So now I'm planning and he really wants nothing to do about it and talks crap any time anyone asks about the wedding...he is on board for destination, but i think is overwhelmed with everything going on in life to even want to think about our wedding. Anyways- I'm discouraged because like any normal girl I want my FI to be elated! sad.gif

I totally understand, we have pushed our date back one reason is because he felt overwhelmed. I'm just going to do things without him, I will leave his attire up to him. If he wants to get onboard later and it's still something for him to put input his in on then great, but for now I am going to continue planning. I bet if some astronomical amout of money comes up short they'll pay attention, hehehe!

my FI only cares to plan the parts that interest him...he loves to design and he's good at it so I had him design our invitations. Too bad it cost us way more than it would have otherwise plus I got stuck actually putting it together...but whatever. He enjoyed it and it kept him involved. Maybe try assigning something specific for him to do. Sometimes I think men don't want to be involved because they're afraid they'll either screw it up or because they think we have a specific vision that they are interferring with. Maybe you can have him do up the play list??

Ha funny! FI & I just had this arguement today!! I guess guys in general just don't care about the little details of the wedding as much as we do. I picked out his pants and ordered them! He finally got his groomsmen's gifts because we were in the mall and I told him just to DO IT ALREADY! So, now most of his things are done.. he just has to find his shirt and he is done. Don't feel like you are alone in this.. you are not! We are here for you girl :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
