Hello everyone,

I am Seckira and I am excited and nervous about my upcoming nuptials in August. First, can anyone please explain to me whose monograms are used on weddings favors or items. Pardon my ignorance, but I see all these monogrammed items on the toasting glasses, invitations, and other items which look gorgeous but I don't know the formality/etiquette about whose initials are used (the bride's, groom', both). Please explain. Thanks.

I believe that is the monograms are the first initials of each of your first names with the first letter of your last name in the middle.

So we are Evan and Erika J**** so the monogram would be EJE on the items you described.

but when making a wedding logo, anything goes be as creative as you want.

Welcome! I'm using our monogram as a simple logo to tie together all the pieces of paperwork involved in our wedding. It will be on save the date cards, invitations, pre-travel info, etc. There is some old rule about not using your FI's last initial as your own until after the wedding, so you shouldn't use it on inivtes, etc. My logo is just our first initials, but this is your own call.

Thank you all for answering my question about creating wedding monogram. Wow, I can't believe how awesome this site is. For some who is excited about her upcoming nuptials but lack the creativity needed for generating ideas (I'm more the analytical type), I feel a little more relaxed and fortunate knowing that I now have access to a forum with vast and incredible personal experiences/insights. I really appreciate this.

Hi Seckira welcome to the forum! I just joined recently and I am still learning how to navigate the site. However, I have found a great deal of ideas when it comes to monograms. if you type it on the search box, different threads pop up and you'll get ideas of what type you like as you create your own. It's fun, although a lot of work. I'm still working on mine. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
