Skyservice past brides

It looks to me like the dress and tuxedo do not count towards your hand luggage weight restriction according to the Skyservice website under the FAQ's:

Skyservice

Q. Can I carry my wedding dress onboard?

A. We do allow brides to carry their wedding dresses and grooms to carry their tuxedos onboard as a courtesy in addition to their carry-on bag. Please note, however, that we do not have hanging facilities in our aircraft, and therefore, the dress and tuxedo must be folded and stowed in the overhead compartments with other bags.

We flew Skyservice in at the end of January to Punta Cana from Calgary... worst trip ever!! We paid extra to sit first class... which was not worth it.. we thought it would be like air Canada.. 2 leather nice seats.. tvs for everyone etc.. well it was old..you didn't get your own tv.. and we booked to sit together but were not able to. There was an arctic spa convention so the plane was full of guys who were all in first class and they were obnoxious.. they got cut off so they cracked open their bottles from duty free and started drinking it straight (I was lucky enough to have the 2 largest guys beside me, while I was by the window!!) one of the guys was sooo drunk he started singing in french really loud.. and another guy from a wedding party wanted to fight him.. when the plane stopped... the arctic spa guy called the flight attendant a B*** and he had to stay on the plane. Also, the toilet overflowed and there was blue stuff coming down the aisle, and the roof was leaking water.. or at least I hope that's what it was.. so all and all it wasn't good!! The way home.. the toilet overflowed, the roof leaked again, I was by the same 2 guys.. but at least everyone was sleeping I guess!! haha just thought I would share that! We are going to use Air Canada :)

We just came back from JA on Skyservice and I agree it sucks. We packed light and weren't over our weight restrictions going or coming. Your dress bag is not counted as carry on luggage and no one bothered to weigh it or anything, so DH and I stuffed it full of my bouquet from AA, a few books, about 10 magazines, a couple of bottles of sunscreen, contact solution, a couple pairs of shoes.... Heheh! Took some weight out of our checked luggage and no one cared or noticed.

We did the same packed lots in my dress bag. Our flight was not bad. We flew out of Saskatoon. We were over weight going there, but way under coming home, (explaine that? we brought back suveniers.)

When we got to the airport we asked t=if we could get window seats and that was no problem, we sat together and there was no one beside us. Survice was ok not that great.

It was the first flying for me so I have nothing to compare it to.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
