Skyservice past brides

those of you who have flown from Canada to Jamaica with skyservice can you plese tell me how much luggage and weight you are allowed. THeir website says 2 bags each TOTAL weight of 44lbs.. THAT IS CRAZY!! Air canada is allowed 2 bags per person with 50lbs PER BAG allowed. I am afraid I wont be able to get my luggage to this weight. Plus you have to pay $20.00 per extra KG that is soooo much. Looking for past brides in put!

Also how were they with your dress?? where did you put it

Thanks

Jill

Hi Ladies!

You are correct...you are allowed a total of 2 bags, with a total weight of 44lbs

In addition, you are allowed a carry on, plus you may also carry your dress in a garment bag (in addition to your carry on). There aren't any closets on skyservice aircraft, so you will have to put it in an overhead bin...if you gently fold it in half and place it on top of the bags, it should be fine...no problem with your dress at all!

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions!

Yup 20 kg's per person. We had a lot of trouble with this and are still disputing luggage charges as we were away for two weeks.

My mom carried my dress on for me on the way there and I did on the way back. I had to store it in overhead cabin which was crappy on the way back as it was pretty full and sorta had to be crammed in sad.gif Poor thing! We also carried on tuxes and they were ok with that.

Not overly impressed with their services, we had a bunch of delays going (3hrs) and my family returning (5hrs). I wouldn't recommend this air line to anyone but maybe you will have better luck.

SkyService TOTALLY sucks... we travelled SkyService once and only once... for my DW we used Air Canada Vacations, and although there was a slight premium on the price (all of $75 difference per person) the luggage allowance, service and quality of aircraft was TOPS!

I am sorry that you have booked (and hope that this was not at an agent's advice) to use SkyService.

I do however have one piece of advice that worked for a friend that flew with SunWing. She was a last minute booking to our DW and couldn't get on the Air Canada flight. She and her boyfriend (at the suggestion of another passenger in the line) told the SunWing staff that they were on their honeymoon, and amazingly they squeaked through without paying for overweight luggage!

Maybe that will help you...

I've flown Skyservice many times to Jamaica and have not had any problems. The weight restrictions may be difficult going if you're carrying your gifts etc. but coming back it shouldn't be a problem. You're going to a hot place so most of the clothes and shoes you'll carry will be light.

I just retuned via Sky Service and they are pretty strict on the weight. Going we were over weight but because we went out to the counter as a group she let my hubby and i go because everyone else was under. We were over because we were going for 2 weeks and they do not give you any exceptions for that which is completely unfair. On the way home we were charged $20 US which makes it even worse for every kg we were over...ended up costing us over $200.00 bucks!!! Apparently this new weight rule came into affect in Sept 2008 and they seem to have no problem enforcing it.

Also be careful because on the way there they weighed our carry on as well!!! I've never had that happen before....on the way back they did not so it seems to be a hit and miss.

I'm going to try to see if i can get some reimbursements back after talking to my travel agent...we'll see how that goes.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
