Black for a wedding.. honest opinion

Recommended Posts

So... I love the color turquoise for a beach wedding, and thats what I want my main color to be, but I also want to add hints of black, white and silver as well. When I had mentioned that to a friend, she was like "NO, you can not have black at a wedding, thats more for a funeral" So what do you think?

I added inspiration pics below

Black is perfectly fine. My cousin got married 2 years ago with a black/pink/silver color scheme. They even asked all of the close family members to wear black so we could be easily identified. Needless to say, it looked great. Do what you like and don't let anyone bully you into changing your mind!

I'm having fuschia and black, and back in 2005 my sister had red, black, white and silver, she even had black roses in her bouquet, and it was gorgeous :)

And my mom thought that black was just for funerals too and was appalled at my sister for choosing it, then she saw the ideas she had and how it all turned out and now thinks black is beautiful at weddings lol

black is definitely fine, ESPECIALLY as an accent color! At funerals you're not going to see hints of black with turquoise, white and silver! I've seen many many wedding color schemes that include black and they always look classy and nice.

Show your inspiration photos to your friend and ask her what they make her think of...I seriously doubt she'll say funeral.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
