My sisters had a wonderful surprise bridal fiesta for me and they gave out these beautiful maracas (one per guest) as the favor. I think I am going to order some smaller ones as favors for my wedding since they looked so nice...and....they say "Mexico" on them.

I called the vendor and there is no way to get specific colors but for the price you can't beat it: $1.95 per pair if you order over 12 pairs.

Here is the link -
Amols' Specialty - Catalog - Traditional Maracas

I can't figure out how to post the pic but if you're interested let me know I can email you the pic of the ones from my shower. You'll be able to see all the colors. My sisters tied little tags on them that said" "Shake it High, Shake it low...Kirk and Kim are getting married in Mexico"!

PS: The site also has cute little sombreros to place on sauce bottles- the 2.5 inch ones are super cheap. I am using them to put on mini tequila bottles.

Hope this info helps!

xoxo
I am also getting married in Mexico and organizing my shower which will have a mexican tropical theme! We plan to play mariachi music (on cd) in the background.....our centerprices will be curly twigs with orchids and a few blooms of mexico national flower - DAHLIAS. Did you have your shower already? ANy ideas of games or fun things that can be done taht have a mexican related theme? Were the name tags for your maracas really tiny?

We went a lIttle overboard. I did oots, fans, luggage tags and then at dinner we have these awesome 8oz stainless steel martini shakers with a 2oz bottle of Appleton rum and a small cocktail mix in different flavours. We personalized the cocktail mix. The shakers were $2 online. I can't remember the name of the website so pm me if you are interested. It was better shipping and no duty if you live in the USA.

I think they look great!

We are doing "welcome bags" with a bunch of gifts so I'm not doing "favors" at the wedding. However, I do have maracas for guests at the cocktail party that I will have monogrammed, and I am doing mini mexican tiles for escort cards that they could take home :)

I gave out welcome bags/OOT filled with goodies and I also gave out little rolling suitcases with our names and date on them...that said thanks for making the trip...it was filled with personalized M&Ms with our faces on it...they also had some double hearts and just married and rob&kim 2-20-10...in the colors of my wedding theme...they were a big hit..

I'm actually doing shot glasses that are made in mexico from on of the local vendors. They are red clay with bright artwork painted on them (6 pesos) and then purchasing small bottles of tequila for each table with our personal label on them. I'm also doing the fans for the ceremony.

For the welcoming gift, I'm having woven tortilla baskets made from a local vendor (65 pesos) and then am buying local bread and sweets to place in them. I'm also doing a welcoming bag with chapstick, sunscreen, and all other small necessities needed for the sun.

Great Idea!!!! I just love that you've got local vendors. How did you manage to set that up? I orignally wanted to do that, but wasn't sure where to start so we went with travel mugs and other goodies.

Let me know!

Are you looking for love songs? slower songs? or party tunes?
I've got some great ideas, just let me know the theme you're using for your cds :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
