Dreams Cancun contract issues!!!!!Advice please

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone! Ok...I need some advice. I have been in the process of finalizing my contract with Gaby from Dreams Cancun for my 2010 wedding. She answered most of my questions below, but I am wondering if this is consistent with what everyone else has seen. It seems as though the photography credit should be more than what she is offering. Hmmm...can I get some much needed advice before I agree to this?

Hi Gaby,

I have a couple of questions.

1) I would like to book an outside

photographer for the ceremony and reception, and I would like to see if

I can get a credit for not using the resort photographer. Yes I ca give

you

the sound system for ceremony or the gazebo decoration let me know :-)

And we just take 1 out side vendor not more :-)

2) Is alcohol

included during the reception, or just the cocktail hour? you have 5

hours

(ceremony, cocktail and dinner) with alcohol included :-)

And if not,

what is the charge for alcohol during the reception? is not a charge you

have this included :-)

3) I would like to

book an outside DJ for the reception (Dj Mannia) is this ok? yes the

price

fr mannia is $ 300 usd per hour :-)

4) I would

like for the bridesmaids to have bouquets, not corsages. yes I just

need to

know what bouquet if you have a pictures, or if you want that I sent

this

to you and how many bridesmaids do you have:-)

5)As this is

quoted for 35, what is the protocol for more or less people? I don't

understand your questions :-(

6) How are

children charged for both the reception and cocktail hour? those have

different charge I just need to know how many and how old are they?

7) Are there

any vegetarian dinner options? yes let me know how many people is

allergy

and vegetarian:-)

cool.gif Finally, can you email me some

pictures? pictured to what?? flowers? set ups I have a lot of pictures I

need that you be more specific :-)

9) I would like a quote for chair sashes and centerpieces for

the tables too. Other than those questions, everything looks great!

Thanks for being so prompt and for anwsering this amount of questions.

I appreciate it.

Nicole

My pleasure let me know :-)

My best regards

I'm not sure what the other girls are going to say, but I think the Photographer package that is inlcluded is worth about $400-$600....And what she offered you is less then half of that!!

I am going through my TA, but I will also be asking for credit for both the Photographer and the flowers in the package, as i am bringing my Bouquets. I am hoping she can give me credit towards the 7 people I am going to have over the 20 people included.

I would definitely ask her about this.

Hopefully other dreams brides will get back to you with their experiences as well :-)

it's amazing that gaby answers that many questions with REAL answers (not vague runaround) ... seems a lot clearer and responsive than claudia.

claudia told me that the only thing she could offer me for not using the resort photographer was gazebo drapery OR extended video (even though what i asked for was the sound system for the ceremony ... you got it from gaby, but claudia will NOT give it to me ... they are very inconsistent). i wrote claudia about how "gazebo drapery" was not a fair or reasonable credit for the photographer. she replied that they do not credit the regular full price because it is part of a package deal. she never gave me a dollar amount for credit ... only "gazebo drapery or extended video."

i'm thinking about writing and asking her again (like we'd never discussed it) just to see if she tells me something different, LOL!

I upgraded the Juan photo package but they still give you the other pics, I didnt need them since I will have so many so I asked if I could get a credit for chair bows because that was something I wanted but didnt add, I think they are pretty cheap if I remember correctly but she wouldnt allow the swap. She only offered the gazebo decor or the sound system for the ceremony....so it should be possible??

It seems as though there are great inconsistencies. I had emailed the resort a few months back and heard from Claudia who took weeks to respond. Gaby's turnaround has been no more than 3 days. It seems to me that the photography credit is too low, and does anyone know about DJ Mannia? I wonder if his rate is the same if you contact him privately.

Hahaha...ok people, dont think that Gaby is some great goddess :) I have Gaby for my WC and Ill share a little about my experiences with her. First, she takes a REALLY long time to answer some of my questions. The shortest amount of time I have waited for a response was about 3 days...which isnt so bad, but other times I have waited several weeks...even a month. Gaby also gave me the sound system for the ceremony to replace the photographer. I wasnt going to argue with her about it because I would have just gotten more frusterated. If I lose a little money because I made the trade, its no big deal. At least she didnt tell me that I CANT trade the Sound System for the Photographer...so I guess I am making out a little ahead. Gaby's answers are very short and not detailed at all. I understand she has a ton of weddings to book and plan, but a detailed answer the first time around with see to it I ask less questions in the future. Overall, I am happy with the outcome so far. I dont think she told me that Mannia is $300 per hour, but I booked last year so I prolly got a little better rates ($280 per hour.) Just be patient (as difficult as it can be.) And you are lucky to have gotten 9 questions answered. I normally ask 2 questions and get a half of a question answered :) Good luck to all!!

Gaby quoted me with $280+taxes for dj and $300+10%taxes for dj Manina...

We will also have a different photographer so I did asked to get something in exchange, and at first she offered me a sound system or gazebo decor (which is what...$19cool.gif but then we decided on dj Manina and at the end instead of photography I got 1 hour for the dj (which is $330 with tax). i think she forgot about sound system and I got lucky with the 1 free hour for dj...loll

ok so it sound like my questions are consistent with what she has told everyone else. I just wanted to be sure b/c i know that there is room for confusion. I can't believe that Gaby has taken so long to respond to questions! I am shocked that I have had such quick turn around with her. It will probably stop once my contract is finalized and my deposit sent in.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
