Is everyone doing a Sand Ceremony??

i really like the idea of the shell ceremony or the hand ceremony. i had not heard of either of those until this thread. thanks for sharing the ideas.

Andrew and I will be married outside on an island. I found a sand ceremony to be fitting. A candle will be blown out via wind.

So I am wondering how the heck am I supposed to get this back to Canada without wrecking it? I would like to have it as a keepsake but I don't quite know how without redoing it when we get home, which to me, sorta defeats the purpose. Any ideas

I have read somewhere on this forum that many girls cork the top or put wax in it and carry the vase in their carry on. that what I plan on doing and hope for the best

everyone has some great thoughts. I am going towards doing it just becuase im not having a traditional wedding and won't have the unity candle, so if i can substitute it for a sand ceremony, why not. And we both love the sand, so it's another special touch i can add to my wedding. What i just thought about was how i can bring it home without ruining the whole thing, lol. any thoughts, let me know

We just got married on May 1st and we chise not to do it. After we said our vows, it was time for the ring ceremony. We had the minister ask us to join hands and she read this hand ceremony and then we exchanged rings. The wording is all below. Just an option if you didn't want to do the sand thing.


RING CEREMONY

MINISTER: “The vows which have been exchanged are but words that are fleeting and the sound of them is soon gone.â€

“The wedding rings become an enduring symbol of the promises which have been madeâ€

“Katie and Max please join hands.â€

“These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever. These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future.
