Is everyone doing a Sand Ceremony??

Recommended Posts

Did I already reply to this thread? If so, sorry!

Andrew and I will be married outside on an island. I found a sand ceremony to be fitting. A candle will be blown out via wind.

Alexis,

Do you have a Michael's Craft Store near you? I went there a few days ago and saw that they had some nice/pretty vases.

So I am wondering how the heck am I supposed to get this back to Canada without wrecking it? I would like to have it as a keepsake but I don't quite know how without redoing it when we get home, which to me, sorta defeats the purpose. Any ideashuh.gif

I have read somewhere on this forum that many girls cork the top or put wax in it and carry the vase in their carry on. that what I plan on doing and hope for the best

everyone has some great thoughts. I am going towards doing it just becuase im not having a traditional wedding and won't have the unity candle, so if i can substitute it for a sand ceremony, why not. And we both love the sand, so it's another special touch i can add to my wedding. What i just thought about was how i can bring it home without ruining the whole thing, lol. any thoughts, let me know

SO FI and I weren't planning on doing a sand ceremony but after being on this forum for a while I see that almost everyone is having one. Is it pretty common?

I know that it takes place of the unity candle part in more traditional ceremonies (which we werent really planning on either) but Id like to get more information on the significance of the sand ceremony and where it comes from

Any information is helpful!

Thanks!!

We just got married on May 1st and we chise not to do it. After we said our vows, it was time for the ring ceremony. We had the minister ask us to join hands and she read this hand ceremony and then we exchanged rings. The wording is all below. Just an option if you didn't want to do the sand thing.

RING CEREMONY

MINISTER: “The vows which have been exchanged are but words that are fleeting and the sound of them is soon gone.â€

“The wedding rings become an enduring symbol of the promises which have been madeâ€

“Katie and Max please join hands.â€

“These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever. These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future. These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other. These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow, and as in today, tears of joy. These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children, the hands that will help you to hold your family as one. These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it. And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch."

"Max Repeat after me...Katie, as I place this ring on your finger, / may it always remind you of my never-ending love, / and may it always remind me / of the precious treasure I have in you. / Wear this ring with joy, / for your love has made me complete."
"Katie Repeat after me...Max, as I place this ring on your finger, / may it always remind you of my never-ending love, / and may it always remind me / of the precious treasure I have in you. / Wear this ring with joy, / for your love has made me complete."

We are doing a Hand Blessing, it just spoke to us a little more than a sand ceremony.

Hand Blessing

Erika, please look at FI's hands:

These are the hands of your best friend that are holding yours on your wedding day; as you each promise to love and cherish one another through the years.

These are the hands that will wipe the tears from your eyes: tears of sorrow and tears of joy.

These are the hands of the future father of your children; they hold present strength and future promises.

And these are the hands that when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, and giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.

FI, please look at Erika’s hands:

These are the hands of your best friend that are holding yours on your wedding day. These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through difficult times.

They will comfort you when you are sick and console you when you are grieving.

These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as you build a future together; that will give you support as Erika encourages you to follow your dreams.

And these are the hands that when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.

    • Hi all, My younger sister is 5 months carrying. She is suffering from hearing loss now. She was perfectly alright before she got conceived. But once she got conceived her hearing ability started getting reduced. Is it quite common now? What would be the reason for hearing loss during the pregnancy period? After scanning the doctor said that the baby is underweight. Since she is suffering from severe vomiting, she is not eating any food. Hence she seems to be very weak. The doctor has prescribed a lot of medicines for her to stay healthy and to deliver a healthy baby. In the midst of all these she is also undergoing the treatment under a hearing aid audiologist in order to improve her hearing ability. Will she completely regain her hearing ability?
